£18.5m for De Gea... ahahaha if that happens Woodward deserves the sack.

£18.5 million and a player we really want from Madrid and it's fine, can live with it given his contract running down and desire to move. But if its £18.5 million alone, we've been royally bent over and seriously have no backbone went it comes to dealing with Madrid.

But ofcourse its Marca so the chances its real are about as likely as Benitez eating a salad.

Wouldn't surprise me if we're after a target man like Mandzukic rather than a pacey explosive striker like Lacazette. In which category do we put Rooney? He's got decent pace but not what we're after i guess. He's no target man. He's simply Rooney, i suppose.

With our possession football we'll come up against many a parked busses and this season Fellaini has been that back-up plan. Don't think LvG is planning to drop Rooney anytime soon but there would be plenty of games for the back-up. To be honest, i'm not against the idea of us signing the likes of Mandzukic, Benteke or Jackson Martinez.

The pacey trickery can be left to our wingers. Maybe there will be another signing for the wings? We have Depay who is a goal scoring winger but other than that it's thin. Could work with Di Maria if he regains confidence. Tough to break up the Mata/Herrera partnership, though.

Edit: I think signing a right back who will overlap and actually try to take on his defender is also essential.

We shouldn't accept any offers for DDG. It's ridiculous that we are even considering selling him and it is 'ok' since he wants to go back home. Are we running some a boarding school for men.

Catch 22, get a fee now or keep an unhappy player & he leaves in 12 months for free.
Club are at fault for not renewing his contract 12 months ago, player of the season allowed to get into last year of contract a major feck up.

The club might have been trying to get him to sign for a while though. Hard to blame the club if the player refuses to sign.

Oh the club will be blamed unless he signs a new 5 year deal, off that I have no doubt. I can see many going over the edge on the fee for a player in the final year & looking very much like they won't renew.
For me I'd rather we sold him, than have the issue cast a shadow over the next season. He signs or he goes, simple, get a new keeper in & build from there.

Roma will sell (or already have) Gervinho to fund keeping Radja and Astori at the club so I dont believe that story about Radja.
I don't think Roma will have a complete say in Nainggolan. He is part owned by Cagliari. So if Roma don't cough up the remaining amount he could well be sold.

I don't think de Gea would be unhappy, he knows Madrid would wait a year to sign him. He's only 24 years old.

I think he'd stay around and it wouldn't surprise me to see him be our best player once again.

However, I think from a business point of view we have to sell him, but from a footballing point of view; i.e how we look to the footballing world, we should tell Madrid to feck off.

It's far too young to be selling any player, slavery is alive and well.

If that is true then it would prove we are awful at negotiating, if I was Woody I would simply tell Real to fck off!
Same here, if we can't get one of their decent players included then tell them to get lost. His girlfriend will have to wait for his affection for another season.

He's been off the boil since he got his head turned a couple of months ago. If we were to keep him against his will for another year, can you imagine how shit he'd be?

Unfortunately, this in one instance where there's no point in holding onto a player simply on principle. We'd be cutting off our noses to spite our face.

If there's one rag to beleive then its Marca, everything they print is fact.

Heard a report, not sure of its authenticity, that Woody has asked for one of Bale, Varane or Ronaldo and we were told to feck off although there is a slight chance they may sell Benzema to us for an extortionate price.

Tbh I think we were pushing our luck asking for one of those three as part of a deal for a young goalie who they could get for nothing next year. I would have asked for a Carvajal, Isco, Benzema option. I think David is nuts wanting to go there, yes it could catapult him into legendary status, but it could also destroy his career. A couple of mistakes and those fans will be all over him and his Atletico past. Also he isn't exactly going to be popular with the Atletico fans either.

People talking gibberish on here. Madrid have us by the balls despite what the UK tabloids are saying. I would imagine Woody is desperate to get some dosh for him now instead of losing him on a free in a year despite trying to make out in the papers that we hold all the aces. Getting 25 million Euro plus add-ons for a player who never ever had any intention of signing a contract extension here and who is desperate to sign for Madrid despite the tabloids telling us that he is torn between what to do and who only has a year left on his contract is good business..Goalkeepers are not like outfield superstars - they can be replaced a lot easier

From what I understand Marca didn't say that Woodward asked for one of those player in exchange of De Gea, he is just trying to buy one of them in an other transaction.

Ok.:) Madrid daren't sell Ronaldo, he is still the star of that side, Bale is Perez's little project, Varane, once he gets experience and cuts out the mistakes is Reals CB for years. Problem is I would like Benzema, but he is also a Perez favourite and would have to be dragged out of Madrid kicking and screaming.

Spanish newspaper AS seem to have gone way overboard with their rumours on Tuesday. Either that or Edward Woodward is having the time of his transfer life winding Real Madrid up. Manchester United supporters have been angered by Real Madrid's perceived prolonged attempts to sign their goalkeeper David De Gea and the feeling has been that Madrid try to bully clubs and Manchester United shouldn't put up with it. Sure, it's understandable if De Gea wants to return to his home city and girlfriend, but supporters wanted their pound of flesh from Madrid should De Gea leave and not to be pushed about.

Well, if AS are right then Woodward is doing his best to cause a stir. The Spanish newspaper reported on Tuesday that Manchester United in recent weeks have made contact with Real Madrid at various times to ask about signing all of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane. At Sport Witness we have a genuine wish that Woodward is simply on the wind-up and will perhaps call Real Madrid tomorrow and ask for Sergio Ramos, then try for Luka Modric and James Rodriguez the next day and keep doing the same until Madrid either come up with a good offer for De Gea or forget about the transfer. Then we want a fly on the wall documentary of the whole thing televised.

In reality there probably isn't much reality in the claims, that hunch is just because it's so outlandish. AS say that Manchester United haven't had positive responses to any of their requests and are simply 'fishing' (which encourages our idea of Woodward simply having a laugh) but rather than catching any fish, the newspaper says they're just hitting water.

I dont think we have a great bargaining position though. DDG has 1 year left on his contract and if he is leaving it is only to Madrid so we can't even drum up a rival bidder because Real know DDG will just play out his remaining year and join for free then.

Leonardo Jardim lists just 7 players who will definitely be at Monaco next season, Kondogbia not on that list. (L'Equipe interview)

“I know about everything that could happen. I would just like it all to be done with as soon as possible. With Vadim and Luis, it was quite clear: Bernardo Silva and Martial will stay, as will Dirar, Subasic, Raggi, Elderson and Toulalan. All the others could leave for financial reasons. When a player leaves, we will buy another, that is why scouting is fundamental in our strategy.”

Looks like Spurs won't be able to get Martial.

No, you've got it completely backward man, you can't trust those Devils! Did they tell you to fill your pockets with stones and jump off London Bridge? They got me with that one, don't do it!
Really? Damn they've got me, I just thought Marca had access to Prof. Xavier's Cerebro...

AS: Marco Verratti: Mission Impossible. Madrid retire from race to sign the 22 yr. old Italian.

Was unlikely PSG were going to sell him, not like they need the money. Good news though, I really didn't want Madrid to get him.
