£200k a week for a 20 year old prospect, which is all he is at this point, would be the single most stupid piece of transfer business ever.

City fans won't think that way. Some won't even realise how wrong it could all go.
Sane ones will, and some of them do exist.

It raises the bar for every future deal they make at every level. It would be absolutely ludicrous.

Assuming it's true, like, which is far from guaranteed.

Wouldn't believe it, remember them saying Shaw was on crazy wages also and he shot that down.

Also, its going to take a lot more than that to top the Andy Carroll purchase for worst transfer business ever

There would be absolutely no point to selling Di Maria. It's not as if anyone of similar quality is on the market like.

I'd be amazed if that happens.
Might just be a cover but he's said a few times now that he wants to stay so I'd be pretty disappointed if we sold him. It'd be a whole lot worse if we sold him and replaced him with fecking Gaitan as well.

That's fair, the journos tend to exaggerate a lot.

It'll be another Gotze scenario at City. Once the likes of Aguero, Silva, Kompany see Sterling making 200k/week, they'll be wondering why they aren't getting at least 300k.

We wont sell him for €60-65m. We paid €83m by todays exchange. Also, he was commercially very good for us - top selling shirt.

would be pointless selling Di Maria to PSG unless they broke the record (why would we sell to a smaller club) or in exchange for a player or two that we might want. Money is worthless to us - atleast the money suggested.

So if his trajectory plays out like City will be hoping for and he's on 200k at age 20, what will he be on in a few years? 300k at 24-25?

Unreal.

Yep i was thinking that, whats he going to be earning when he's like 28!, the mind boggles.

Be brilliant if he flops and then just sits out the last few years of his contract on £200K a week

Feck off PSG. I'm thinking Di Maria is bound to have a much better second season. Besides there's no good alternative, maybe paying a ridiculous sum for Bale, but that doesn't seem feasible really.

PSG can have him for Verratti + Marquinhos, similar to Ramos + Navas for De Gea.
