Is Darmian his son or how does Di Marzio know this? He reported everything in detail about this transfer.

To be fair, I think Torino have made this quite public with their President and manager being quoted and of course Darmien himself wrote that lovely goodbye letter to Torino fans.

I think It was done a little on purpose to piss Juve off as they even tweeted it was an amazing deal for United. I fully believe Torino didn't want him to go to another Italian club.

Why would you want to spend 8m for a backup? More importantly why would Begovic, who is a good keeper, want to move to Chelsea to sit on the bench?
It's on the higher end for a back up keeper but seeing as they just sold the man Begovic is replacing for 11m, it's a rather inexpensive transfer in the grand scheme of things.

Wenger called again Benzema but he doesn´t want to leave, the same with Jesé

The letter is from a fake instagram profile of Darmian (silly season, eh?) and the quotes from Torino's manager were after the whole story was already out. They were just some sort of a confirmation of the deal.

I think Di Marzio deserves some credit here. His record is far from 100%, but when it comes to Italian/Serie A players, he's reliable. As we also saw with Van Persie, he's got connections elsewhere as well.

@cyberman told me the other day that is illegal but in theory Madrid should pay 10 m€ to De Gea if they can´t bring him this summer
It's unenforcable in a sporting contract. Or so Figo says when he got hustled with it.
Madrid did this with Figo, rumours about it with Ronaldo and now De Gea. It's only Madrid that I see that tries this in some shape or form in negotiations.

Really?

I honestly thought it was real because the last thing I heard about it was yesterday on Talk Sport when they had a half hour discussion about it, and compared how respectful Darmien was being to how disrespectful Sterling is being.

I agree Di Marzio deserves a lot of credit and he has been much more reliable this Summer (so far)

yeah, he even took to twitter to say he didn't have an instagram account, which was reported by the Express as a ''shock Darmian U-turn''

I really have no excuse for not knowing, as I was just reading the Darmien thread. Talk Sport were talking about it all yesterday morning and afternoon

That been they won't get him without paying a world record fee, or giving us Ramos.

@carvajal still confident you'll get him this week/weekend? Under non of the above terms?
Yes, still confident, seen from outside it may seem as an opportunity to press for United but surely Mendes has offered United something in return if they are not so categorical in their requests

What can he offer us if it's not including more money from Real, or one of your players (doesn't have to be Ramos, I hope it's not him)? Everything else would make us (Ed) look weak and I don't think Ed wants that.

I don´t think that 40 million euros for De Gea is looking weak , look at Bayern , which has always been characterized by being very hard in negotiations , they sold Kroos by 30. If Woodward doesn´t get Ramos, he can always say that was a long shot, besides probably he already signed Otamendi. Last year Di Maria was about to sign for PSG and suddenly came to United. Mendes did not know what to do with Falcao and United signed him.The press and fans tend to do a lot of literature on the negotiations , which are perhaps more mundane than we think

Ah OK, 40mil euros is a fair price, actually maybe more than fair. The pound strength is a bit of problem for us, but 29-30mil pounds for a GK i his last year of contract is a very good offer. Maybe we will negotiate 33mil pounds but in installments which would make it easier for Real and we could still claim we good the WR fee.

When it comes to di Maria, he came only because PSG and City couldn't afford him as they had FFP bans.

Not really. Officially, Buffon transferred for €51.956m which equated to £32.6m in 2001. If we received £33m for De Gea then it would be only be a World Record by UK standards.

€51.956m on today's exchange rate is £37.5m. No chance in hell we're getting a World Record fee for Dave.

€40m would be a fantastic deal for us in the circumstances. It's frustrating that the Euro is so weak that is happens to convert to only £28m. Still, the money goes towards signing other players on the continent so it's all a bit moot, as we'll then benefit from the exchange rate after being stung by it on Dave.

Considering we're going to be spending more than we're selling, it's good thing that EUR is weak.

If Madrid are willing to offer €40m for DDG and want €70m for Ramos, why not we offer €30m and DDG for him if we really want him and if he wants to move? Outflow of about £20m for Ramos and another £25m maybe for a GK

Because that would be stupid.

Why exactly?

Because DDG is worth a lot more! We dont pay for Ramos, it would at worst be a straight swap.

But but...he only got one year left in his contract...... Well feck that, we dont let Real Madrid or DDG feck us around. He can stay for one more year then.

Because at 29 Ramos is not worth 70m euro

It won't technically be 70m we will have an outflow of 30m. Plus if we are getting a decent young keeper for about £25m or less, that would have a net outflow of less than £50m and we would get a world class CB and a good gk

I think we have to accept we aren't going to get more than €40m. Keeping de gea is better but I think we would have told DDG that we will sell if they bid €40m or something

Why exactly?
We (allegedly) offered just under £29m (roughly €40m) for him a few weeks ago, I'd imagine the Club aren't going to go much higher than that. Therefore it would be a stupid move by the Club to near double their original bid, not only that but we have to undersell our star player for the privilege.

According to the Valencia press, a move for Otamendi is nearing.

 Desperate attempt to start a bidding war

More than a bidding war, it's probably an attempt at forcing United to pay the clause quickly instead of negotiate a cut price.
