Not necessarily true mate. See Shaw example last summer. We'd made initial contact and then waited before making our move. As Koeman himself hinted, we've made a bid already but not to their valuation. I supposed what's happened in the past week has been us convincing Morgan to join us over Arsenal and agreeing personal terms. That leaves us now to go in for the final bid which really won't take too long now as we now know what Saints want.
So yes, the press don't know everything but I think they've gotten the Schneiderlin information from his camp as well as the clubs involved.

Yes its a mess but when you think of the list of potential insiders that journos could be fed information from (the player, his agent, the sellign club, the bidding club(s), domestic team mates, international team mates, friends, family) its hard to know who was misled and who was just bullshitting.
