One of our posters stated that he had a tendency to buy Dutch players @Balu was it you, apologies if it wasn't.
But no matter, I trust him in the market.

Yeah he brought that bloody average Robben to Bayern. Let that world class Van Bommel go whilst he was at it.

It's certainly worrying if it does happen as the Dutch are as poor as they've been in a long long time.

No paper have a clue what we are doing in the transfer market. So why do people think it's the gospel truth all the time?

So what ? Does this mean you're going to perpetually question every transfer ?

No it looks like he has some good targets for this window, but we are also linked with some average players. I'm not going to not criticize a potential transfer which I don't agree with.

At Bayern and Barca his transfer record wasn't very good, so naturally I'm a bit worried.

Cillessen is the De Vrij/ Clasie of this window. Weak spot in the team + Van Gaal + decent Dutch national team player. 2 + 2 + 2 = 983456439897

We better not pay that!!!

But they also have some quality. In fact we've just bought one of them. I'm not to worried who we bring in, a team rather than individual talent wins games, that's what LVG seems to be building

The Telegraph story on Cillesen is a rehash of the Mirror one. No journalist has put their name to it.

Don't worry Valdes is probably our first choice, which means that we are after a bench warmer. ;)

It was definitely a huge problem at Barca. The problems at Bayern were a bit different. I'd say he has a tendency to buy players he knows very well from previous jobs and prefers individually weaker player he knows well over big risky signings. That's not really a problem at United though, because it looks like Woody makes the big risky transfers anyway, even if they don't fit in van Gaal's plans.

Personally don't want Cilessen, but he is alright. Nothing elite about him, but you can probably live with replacing a WC gk with a decent one. Anyway, think its a rubbish rumour.

What did the Bayern fans think of Van Bommel?

I liked him. He was a very good player for us in a transition period and was deservedly made captain under Klinsmann. I'd also say that Schweinsteiger benefited in the beginning of his transition to a central midfielder from playing alongside such an intelligent player. He's a bit underrated, probably because he made a few too many cynical tactical fouls without seeing a yellow card for it (I fully understand why he wasn't loved by his opponents). I'm still not sure what happened between him and van Gaal and the board certainly hated it, even apologised to him, that he was pushed out of the club midway through van Gaal's second season after being a loyal and very respectful player for half a decade.

If van Gaal feels Cillessen is good enough I feel he's good enough, van Gaal knows more about the player than us.

Don't really 100% trust a goalkeeper when the very same manager subs him off ahead of a penalty shoot out.

Edwin van Der Sar thinks David de Gea is on his way, says he is replaceable but issues a Jasper Cillessen hands off

I still think that De Gea will be our GK next season.
The only question is if he will sign new contract or will he go for free next season to Madrid.

If we went with a Dutch GK, I'd rather go for Krul instead. PL experienced and a bit of a nutter, which isn't necessarily a bad thing when it comes to keepers.

'There's been a lot of talk lately and if he wanted to stay he probably would have signed a new contract by now,' Van der Sar said.

I would love a fully fit Strootman here, we need a box to box like him in our midfield but other than that I agree. Dutch football isn't what it used to be.
That would be brilliant.
I'd be delighted with a Schneiderlin, Strootman, Herrera midfield.

Bring back Edwin. You know it makes sense. Possibly.

Atletico Madrid's president says signing Carlos Tevez will be diffiicult given his desire to return to Boca Juniors

Seeing as we already have Valdes, the only keeper we sign in the summer will be a #2. Cillesson is good enough for that role.

Boring transfer window so far, only random rumors, not even a megathread in the transfer forum. We need some Chilevision type of action or some "Only God knows" interviews to spice things up.

I agree, its a slow start to this summer window. Something tells me that its a good thing. Maybe this window will explode in a good way :)
