This is going to drag on isn't it? I thought with Woodward gone things might have changed
How is this dragging? Would you say Tchouamei to Madrid is dragging too? Just be patient. We always claim other teams are more proficient than we are which isnt true, its just that we obsess and spend every minute refreshing through tweet after tweet and think we are dithering when its the same for others.

Just want to say a Manchester United only tweets thread is an extremely brilliant idea. Cheers to the one(s) who thought and came up with this and keep the tweets coming :D

Summary:

I find it interesting that we've offered a contract to Martin Svidersky despite him wanting to move on from United. Here's hoping he can change his mind. On Levitt, I'm curious to see if he'll be sent out on loan again or sold this summer. I don't see how he can break into this team at this stage.

Thanks to both @unplayable and @Adnan:

Manchester United have offered Barcelona for De Jong less than 80 million [Euros] for the player: 60 [million Euros] fixed and between 10 [million Euros] and 12 [million Euros] in variables. At FCB they consider it more than insufficient and set the price at a minimum of 100 [million Euros] between fixed and variable...

Barcelona want €100m in a total package. They're willing to negotiate over the fixed amount + variable payments, but they aren't willing to budge from the €100m total demand. Barcelona were hoping that other clubs (Man. City, PSG, and Bayern Munich) would submit their bids, but the prices quoted so far have deterred them from taking their interest further.

I’m expecting a Nemanja Matic’s goodbye message after Mata’s. Both classy guys and players on and off the pitch

Thanks to @Adnan again:

The key part (not reported anywhere else):

It seems like the €100m demand is just a way to prevent any low-ball offers, but that didn't stop United from starting low.

If they’d accept around £65m and we’ve offered basically that including add ons, how have we started low? Look at what Bayern are offering for Mane.

I’m actually surprised we’ve pulled or are pulling this off. Same as Varane and Sancho last year. If we can get a striker RW and right full back of similar potential quality I think we will be formidable again. Maybe even Rashford will get his head out of his ass and save us a few quid! Stranger things have happened.
Contrary to popular belief, our team responsible for negotiating transfers is quiet good. We haven't overpaid for players in quiet a while.

Now the same can not be said about the team(Judge and Co.) that is responsible for contracts, renewals, etc.

Here is hoping that with the new regime, things will change here as well.

We initially offered €60m + 10-12 million in bonuses according to Moises Llorens, which is less than the £65m that they paid and much less than the €100m that they've demanded. If we feel that Barcelona want to just recoup their payment, then our first offer's a good starting point.

Well its been going on since the 1st June so in my eyes yes its dragging on

Today is the first day of the transfer window - give the guys a chance ffs.
Yes but you can still agree on deals beforehand like countless other teams have with players FFS, never used FFS before but I feel like a teenager now

Reliable?
Asensio's been meh for a long time. He looks like a player who peaked early
He's been pretty good for Sky Sport Italy from what I've seen. This isn't something he'd typically report on, though, so let's see where this goes.

He hasn’t really been a good signing for Barca for £65 million though has he? Classy player that never really fit in or really stamped his authority on the league
Please give this guy a chance should we sign him. He might not be an all action McT Fred but he’s fecking class. I really can’t be assed reading posters agenda on this guy for the next five years.

Would be a decent acquisition if we can get him for 30-40 millions. 26 years old, had bags of potential but seems to have lost his mojo as of late. Regular game time and he might discover his old form.

The irony clearly isn’t lost on you. I think FDJ will be a much more suitable player for the PL, fingers crossed anyway. We just need someone to run the midfield intelligently and to stay switched on in the defensive phase.

We just need...is a ridiculous starting point and one that will lead to years of blaming one more player just because they don’t fall into the profile of player you so clearly enjoy (Fred) while DeJong is on another planet. He alone though won’t fix Manchester United.

Is the whole point of recruitment no? I can’t believe you’re in the FDJ thread still banging on about Pogba. You’re obsessed! Everyone else can see Pogba pretty much failed because he didn’t work hard enough on the pitch and he didn’t modify his game to suit the team or the league. Let’s hope FDJ is able to do the nuts and bolts a lot more consistently than Pogba could. I think he will be able to. If he’s able to give consistent 7/10 performances and get the team going that would be better than Pogba playing some 4/10 games and not looking arsed and some 8/10 games being the best player on the pitch. it was far too unpredictable. Actually by the end it was predictably bad.

Sorry I’ve not mentioned anyone ? I’ve just stated that no individual player will fix Manchester United and that based on your initial post I really can’t be arsed reading posts for the next five years of agenda because he doesn’t run about like a maniac. The rest of your rant is what I personally can’t be arsed with. Perhaps others will differ. There’s nothing to say Im Right.

Id be running up that road
I’d be running up that hill..

Low offer in value doesn't always mean less attractive one. If we're willing to pay much of the 60mil up front, it may be more attractive than 80mil but with several installment.

We don't know the detail, but my educated guess is that first offer usually be of the former type. Benefit both parties in certain circumstances.

Barca will be hard to deal with.
Though I am not a big fan of managers bringing ex players to their new club. De Jong might be witth the €€. Veratti is ideal for us though that ship has sailed.
