Have these journos forgot we sacked Ole over a year ago?
It's arguable that he is even better than Rice let alone miles better that's hyperbole , but he is younger so who knows in future that could very well be the case but certainly not currently .Kane would be a great signing not sure about Rice and Mount. You can get Caicedo instead of Rice, he’s miles better. And he’ll probably cost the same as well.
And not a whole lot of good value in that spend either.Zero chance we're signing Kane, Rice and Mount in one window. That's well over £200m right there.

I believe soWill we still be going for Rabiot on a free?
If the plan is to sell Henderson, Maguire, McTominay, AWB, Williams, etc then we will need English players for CL home grown rules. There is absolutely no way we sign 3 expensive English players this summer.
I've edited it.The Tweet's deleted. Who Tweeted this out?
If Frimpong happens, which it looks like it might, we will have 5 fullbacks. One is superfluous. And we desperately need income.
Got it. Thanks for updating the Tweet.I've edited it.
We will obviously have to fulfill those requirements, but I cannot see us spending big on a load of English players with the recent luck we've had with them.If the plan is to sell Henderson, Maguire, McTominay, AWB, Williams, etc then we will need English players for CL home grown rules.
Who knows what is going on in the back ground. If both AWB and Dalot are happy with their lot and are model professionals outside of match day both may well keep. AWB specialising in one on ones is definitely as asset when building winning match day teams. Why??
Keep them both. They are far from perfect but not a priority IF we get the other signings right
Will StillWill we still be going for Rabiot on a free?
We will probably spend 300-400
We will get taken over and sell 100 million worth of players most probably. 300-400 million is pretty plausible.Where would we get this money? With no takeover agreed, FFP regulations and the Glazers being unlikely to spend much anyway with the club being sold eventually I can't see us spending much at all.
Kane and Rice would improve us considerably but yeah serious question marks over whether or not Mount is good enough plus Caicedo is arguably a cheaper, better alternative to Rice. And not a whole lot of good value in that spend either.
Caicedo doesn't have as much to his game as Rice. I think Rice could play as a 6 or 8.Kane and Rice would improve us considerably but yeah serious question marks over whether or not Mount is good enough plus Caicedo is arguably a cheaper, better alternative to Rice.
Agree with everything.Kane and Rice would improve us considerably but yeah serious question marks over whether or not Mount is good enough plus Caicedo is arguably a cheaper, better alternative to Rice.
Caicedo can play right back, meaning he can move into midfield from RB. That’s what seems to be the new trend nowadays.Caicedo doesn't have as much to his game as Rice. I think Rice could play as a 6 or 8.

How much did we spend last summer?400 million
It sounds insane but probably not as implausible as we might think. Look at Chelsea.400 million
Elanga likely leaving too now that Rangnick is gone. We'd be down to about 5 or 6 home grown players and we need 8. Hannibal and Mainoo could take up a slot each, but will they stay or be loaned out is the question. If the plan is to sell Henderson, Maguire, McTominay, AWB, Williams, etc then we will need English players for CL home grown rules.
Well if you believe the noise coming out about us having just a 100m summer budget, I think we can do little worse than 50m on Mount + Kovacic. Of course I would prefer we go for better and younger players, but we will probably have to spend big on a striker and a GK. A midfielder like Kovacic would actually be a good profile to add to our midfield - someone who can carry the ball decently. I would also prefer if Mejbri and Mainoo can step up to take Fred’s/McT’s minutes but I don’t think either of them are at the required level. You must be a Chelsea fan then.
Agreed. Would be underwhelming, but if the 100m summer budget is accurate, then we will need to spend extra wisely. At least Mount + Kovacic have decent league experience, I’m unsure how midfield signings from foreign leagues would fair. Do we then go for another loan signing like Sabitzer to patch a hole? Unfortunately I do not think Mejbri and Mainoo are at the required level yet, most they could do are cup games which is not good enough. I would be delighted if EtH thinks otherwise and if he uses them. If not it would be like Iqbal staying with us all season without getting any serious minutes. They’d be an okay upgrade on McFred, but just ok. I’m not seeing them push us on, more just a mild improvement to the squad strength. I couldn’t see either of them displacing Case or Eriksen. We could do with a midfield signing who’s a clear upgrade on Eriksen.
Nah Caicedo's great but Rice is better right now. Rice would be amazing for usKane would be a great signing not sure about Rice and Mount. You can get Caicedo instead of Rice, he’s miles better. And he’ll probably cost the same as well.
You'd be underwhelmed by a top-5 striker in the world and two of the best young midfielders in the league? What would whelm you?

Disagree. I think caicedo is a far better all rounder. The stats back this up as does the eye test. Cheaper better younger. What’s not to like?Caicedo doesn't have as much to his game as Rice. I think Rice could play as a 6 or 8.
There are different levels of homegrown players. McTominay is not like Maguire and AWB.Signing three English players would at least allow us to sell AWB, Maguire and McTominay without worrying about the home grown quota
Is he, though? How much less would he cost, 20 million? As a direct Casemiro replacement he might make more sense but the next few years, with Casemiro still starting, we need a good passer next to him, and Rice is a better pssser than Caicedo.Kane is a massive upgrade but what does Mount bring to this team? Also Rice is 100m, for that money you'd think Caicedo is better value. I'd rather we go for Rabiot, have Eriksen as the 10 backup and spend that Mount money on Kim. +-50m for an average player on a 1 year deal is disgusting and unnecessary.
I would say every aspect of his game is currently betterIs he, though? How much less would he cost, 20 million? As a direct Casemiro replacement he might make more sense but the next few years, with Casemiro still starting, we need a good passer next to him, and Rice is a better pssser than Caicedo.
