Won't be in shock if he's agent behind this trying to connect him to us

Don't see how he fits into our team. Newcastle would be an interesting move for him. They likely have CL and he can fight out for a starting position there.

Yeah looks Newcastle bound, would have give Spurs a shot if they had got in top 4

He's obviously a very good footballer, but he's so far away from what we need?

We need someone who dies for goalscoring and someone who isn't solely a shotstopper.

for a 100m and bonus? I'm not sure about that

Pretty sure the tweet said it would be less than that. Either way, he’s the striker that I want, so I don’t really care what we pay for him so long as it is in our budget for a striker. And I believe that €100m is, so I’d have no problem.

What's the particular appeal? Honestly asking - I've seen him 2-3 times and aside from being fairly quick, and scoring a few in the Bundesliga (which WW was able to do consistently) he hasn't looked particularly special - Kane's looked a more creative player and ruthless finisher. I know they're not like for like, and Kane's over 4 years older, but it still seems a huge gamble.

Is he that much better than Jonathan David, for instance, who we could probably sign for 45m. If Toney didnt have suspension hanging over him, even he would seem a better 'bet' (ahem). But maybe something about Muani I'm just not picking up on...

I'd rather spend big money on players that are playing Premier league. Ten Hag needs players that will settle in quick and will know how premier league is. None of this need to adjust to the league and new country.

If we're spending big on a striker, for me it's either kane or Ivan Toney for number 9.

If it's less than 100m euros, then stamp my ticket for the Muani train - I'm starting to think 100m euros is going to be a decent deal too. I'm with you pal.

We’ve been linked with both Muani and Abraham today, and out of the two I prefer Abraham. Abraham is more of the proven quantity, decent/good PL track record and he’s Homegrown (important factor if we are to sell Maguire and McTominay).

Sir Jim and Tammy Abramham in. The new Manchester United is here.

We are. Tier 2:

I should add that Florian Plettenberg has really good connections with Bayern Munich, so such Tweets from him should be taken more seriously.

Not a fan of Bundesliga players. Even less at the quoted fee. And I personally don't see it with this guy. Would rather Kane at that price.

Few things. Firstly, I think he is the right profile of centre forward for our team. If footballers did not have names and I was asked simply to give a list of strengths/qualities for out prospective new #9 - then mine would be as follows:

Good finishing
Physical strength
Pace
Hold up play/Good first touch
Link play
Ability to beat a man and create for himself
Height
Pressing

For me, RKM is one of very few options that tick ALL boxes above. Now there are question marks as to whether those qualities will translate to consistent performance at a level suited for Manchester United. For me, the main thing I try to look at on order to answer that question is mentality. Some players have talent and would probably be the best player in the park but cannot show the best version of themselves under pressure. Self belief is so crucial for attacking players in particular. Defending is collective. Forwards need to be big enough to take responsibility and it is your name that goes on the scoresheet or assist sheet etc. It is this area that gives me encouragement. Having come in to the World Cup late on, he didn’t just come to make up the numbers and took initiative and impressed when he got a chance. He felt he belonged there. Playing for United - that is vital.

He’s played for a terrible Frankfurt team this season yet still managed to score 20 goals so far. He’s scored in the CL, he’s scored against Bayern. He belongs on a bigger stage. He’s now establishing himself in the first XI for France and, while I appreciate that it will be a speculative purchase, he’s at the exact sort of stage that people have bemoaned us not signing players before. All it takes is 3 months into a move to a bigger club for the ‘every one could see Kolo Muani was a talent at Frankfurt, why didn’t we get him then’ questions to start.

Either we limit our shopping as a club to Kane’s, Casemiro’s and Varane’s or we mix it up and start getting top talent who can spend their prime years with us.

A portion of any fee would almost certainly include performance related incentives too. I’d anticipate €70m-€80m up front.

Much of this was said about Luka Jovic.

I was very disappointed with him in the world cup final. He missed a couple of gilt-edged chances that would have won France the game. He seemed completely overcome by the occasion and looked to me like a deer in the headlights when Mbappe's cross reached him in the dying minutes of that game. A cool and confident striker would have scored that open-netter. Does he have the iron nerve to succeed as a striker in the premier league? Not from what I saw in the world cup. He could be another Kai Havertz.

Very true.

I saw it completely differently, France were completely out of it before he came on and things started to happen through his actions. I think it's ridiculous to read anything into that final chance, it happens to be an extremely good save as well and as long as he learns from it, I don't see an issue. Kai Havertz isn't even a striker and scored in the CL final, so don't get the comparison if I'm honest.

Awful logic.

Well, we know the Bundesliga has a habit of making attacking players look better than they are. Just look at Kagawa, Mkhitaryan, Sancho, Timo Werner, Luka Jovic. Even Weghorst scored at a decent clip over there.

Are people really convinced that Kolo Muani at 24 years old has suddenly figured it out? He signed for Frankfurt for free just last summer and people are happy to throw 80-100m at them for him.

What about De Bruyne, Haaland, Firmino, Sane, Son and Lewandowski? Kolo Muani isn't Luka Jovic. He is his own man, with his own strengths and weaknesses.
