When does the transfer window end?
For most of Europe, that's before midnight tonight. For England, it's tomorrow before midnight. Then you have other countries such as Turkey that have their transfer window ending on September 8.

I think this Garner transfer is very sensible business. If anything I wish we did this to more of our young players. Selling with a buy back clause means we get a bit of money and they get playing time. if they become good enough we bring them back.

Why does everyone want to buy back Garner? Seriously, we need to learn to not put emphasis on the fact the player is from academy - what matters is how he plays.

It's a nice insurance policy (see the example of the City players that have gone to Southampton) but I agree, he doesn't look enough.

Anyone else surprised that there's been no video/official announcement of Antony yet?

Are we going to do a Quad announcement of FDJ/Antony/Memphis/Dubravka tomorrow? hmmmm

It’s the fee. It made sense to be so low if we wanted a buyback. Otherwise that fee is absurd.
But we got a sell-on clause, so if he becomes an incarnation of Gullit, we will then get some extra

9 million, if we have 20% sell on for instance and he leaves Everton for 50 million, we made a grand total of 19 million, super.

Buy back would of been a lot more beneficial if he does go on to fulfill his potential, I’m sure whoever does the selling in our club legimately hates us receiving money.

And? What if he just becomes a solid PL player? Morgan Gibbs white is 40m. Neco Williams 20m. 9m is fecking bonkers.
He won’t become a solid player here, he will never play. So his value will only diminish - like it is with Amad.

We need to stop tolerating average level - sell all those who can’t get minutes here on merit, sell and reinvest. If there is an actual star, he will get himself on the pitch

Which has absolutely nothing to do with what I’m saying. I’m not against selling him. I’m saying the fee is absurd. If we said he was available 8 weeks ago forest would have given us at least double what Everton have.

That Garner sale is one of the worst I can remember. 9 million fee could have been justified if it was the price for a buy back clause. Without it's unfathomably bad business.

Garner has literally 0 mins to his name as a PL player.

Selling Garner is good business - we finally start to sell. We need to sell much more than we do. Any fee received is 100% more value than we get otherwise (ie nothing)

21 years old. Did very well for a top Championship team last year. England U21 player. No pressure or need to sell now.

9 million pounds.

When you look at the going rates this summer, it's impossible to argue that's a remotely decent fee.

I'm not necessarily fussed about the buy-back clause, but the transfer fee for Garner is so pathetically laughable no wonder we get taken for mugs by everyone.

What’s he done to be worth more? Never played in premier league and had a decent season in the championship, nothing spectacular.

I know he’s one of our own, but people massively overestimating his worth.

Is he England u21’s best player?

Name me a few better than that for a Championship probably average player?

There are players that should gone who are far more of drain on our resources.

Gibbs-White was actually around £25m with some ludicrous add ons.

Garner went for less than I’d hoped but it may simply be a case of needing to recoup a bit after the Antony deal.

Was a key component of a championship team who got promoted and starts for England U21s. What has Gibbs White done to be worth 4 times more? Or Williams to be twice as much? Or Ibe. Or all the Chelsea lads who get sold after 1 Championship season.

There was similar sentiment when Angel Gomes left. And where is he now?

There is no guarantee Garner will make it at the highest level - and any other level is of no relevance for us

Why is that relevant?

Your second question is so loaded with revealing bias that there's not much point. No, I don't recall all transfers out of the Championship in history. We bought Zaha for 11 million in 2013. What does that translate to in today's market? 25 million at least certainly.

All big clubs protect themselves against this type of situation except for us. Real, Chelsea, City all do it. So should we.

Zaha was a winger with a far better reputation than Garner. There’s about 5 players in the youth team who are probably rated better than Garner right now. I just wish people would stop with the unworthy drama.

He’s an alright player.
