Bloody fecking hell. City is going into season without single lb, Liverpool for years don't have backup for TAA, Chelsea is without single striker but we will keep unwanted player just because we don't have natural backup for first choice player.
No wonder that we suck in selling
City signed a full back didnt they? Also they have capable players slotting in there.

Chelseas lack of a striker for now at least will be costly to them. I expect them to sign one though.

Not to mention at a pinch we can play Lindelof there.

What’s the point buying a back up when we need a first teamer?
We aren’t going to get a first teamer right now. What we can do is sell a completely useless player and get rid of him. We lack the ability to just turn players over.

So be stuck with 2 back ups next season? Makes perfect sense keeping wan Bissaka another year and getting a first teamer next summer.

Well, looking on the bright side of things, if Crystal Palace and West Ham want him, he can't be that bad. I still think he's a much better defender than Dalot.
He would look a lot better for midtable sides like those. It'll be the wages that are the main issue, as always. Midtable teams don't want to play premium wages for a player who is out of favour at a top club.

You can see it from both sides really. £10m is a bit of a pittance from our perspective but those clubs shouldn't have to break their wage structures to bring him in either.

I disagree, We're going to be quite fecked if anything happens to Dalot. We should wait until we get the RB option we want, unfortunately there aren't many good options out there atm so keeping him until there is makes sense.

The only way I think is if we loaned Napoli Ronaldo and covered some/all his wages while taking Osimhen on a loan with obligation to buy for £80m or something next summer and pay a £20m loan fee this year.

That way we get Osimhen but he only costs us £20m this summer. Ronaldo is gone and Napoli can reinvest the £20m now for some squad cover (maybe say Gakpo) and can plan next summer knowing a huge fee isn’t coming as well.

Smart. I like it. Get it done mate.

Notable remark on Sky that Edinson Cavani is a free agent. 35 now. Might go to Valencia, if I heard right

Could get a RB on loan with an option to buy in the meantime. Maybe Dumfries? Lamptey? There are right-backs out there who are good enough to provide competition whilst allowing us to get a decent fee for AWB.

The club keeping hold of shit players so they don't have to replace them is nothing new. Standard Glazernomics.

We have Williams ffs. Sure, he is shit but he is here and going nowhere. So we have backup for rb. Sell Awb and move on

I always get confused between Chong and Hannibal. Which one is the better player?

People saying we need a back-up RB - we need a first choice RB!
Dalot is fecking shite!

Why did we not look at Kyle Walker-Peters or Lamptey (both of whom are back-ups) all summer? Wan Bissaka is going to be worth even less next year because he is a back-up here already. This is why we are amongst the worst sellers of players in Europe.

This is good. Perhaps Dubravka is the biggest beneficiary of our transfer window - no one could expect him to be a Man Utd player, him included. It came out of nowhere - from a substitute somewhere at Newcastle to a de Gea rival. I bet the guy still can not believe his luck

Dalot is not shit. We need first choice by all means but he fits in ETH system. So he is good backup.
This window we can't buy first choice and we have offer for RB who doesn't fit in ETH's system.
Logical move is to sell AWB (which we will try next year anyway), use Williams as backup and then next year (or in winter) go for first choice RB.

I love ETH. I really do. But he is doing the same mistake which Ole did. He wants huge squad depth. That is good if all those players will be in his future plans but why keep players who doesn't (Maguire, AWB, Ronaldo)? Sell them now if offer is right, clean squad from deadwood and you have clean start next year.

Apart from the fact he, rejected coming as no 2 as part of a Henderson to Newcastle deal previously.

Hannibals off to Birmingham with Chong in tow. We currently have 2 18 years old CMs at Birmingham starting games & doing well but lacking creativity for Deeney.

I know what Chang’s about, but how’s Hannibal?

Stylistically similar to Grealish, although I think he played a bit deeper for Monaco before he joined United

We can’t play Lamptey unless we want the under 16s to have a bigger average height across the back line.

More info on Southampton's offer for Cody Gakpo (Tier 2):

PSV listens to Southampton, who want to pay tens of millions for Gakpo. Clubs still in discussion, but first indication of bid (35-40 million) not yet enough for PSV. Interest Manchester United now 'lukewarm' according to sources.

For those hoping for Gakpo to be cheap enough:

Nottingham Forest offered around €25 million for Gakpo earlier this market. PSV has already resolutely rejected this offer. Far too little. The Eindhoven club is still betting on at least 50 million [Euros].
