Almost certainly over. That's good enough for me.

We're not spending 70m on Casemiro and 70/80m on FDJ in same window.

You are totally mental if you think that's going to happen. The rest of the money will be spent on a winger/forward and maybe a full back too.

I refuse to believe this.

Only leaked to media so they can save face when they inevitably sign no one of note. If you're about to sign some players, why would you announce to the world you've opened up the purse strings, how on earth does that help negotiations. Why wouldn't Ajax ask for €100M for freaking Antony when they hear that. This club is run by idiots. What other team announces things like this. They don't, they just shut up and sign players
“Leaked” pessimismCAF alive and well

Fecking nonsense. I hope the players can get a bit more belief and resolve than so many on here throwing the towel in on a season already.

Agreed, but if I'm honest, I kinda lost some faith on many players in the squad so even though I think all the doom and gloom talk is ridiculous, I get where it is coming from.

They haven't. It's rumours, potential leaks. The club hasn't stated anything of this sort.
They've announced war chests before. This is the same group that asked Woodward for advice this off season. I wouldn't put it past them, especially with the expectation we won't have a single point after 3 games. They want to take the heat off the Glazers, this is the way to do it. But it doesn't help actually getting new players, in my opinion

Yeah, I'm just saying that the club hasn't announced a thing, officially. I wouldn't read into it too much. It could be agents, could be players, could be staff, could be just journos making up things as they go along to get the clicks. I don't think that the most likely scenario is always the worst one, tempting though it can be.

Too little, too late once again. Should have done it right at the beginning of the window. Drives me mad. 2 losses already, likely 3 after Monday. League season is done before it’s even started.
I wouldn't go that far but people saying it's nonsense must realise that 6 points have been dropped that were winnable and not against top tier opposition and that we've seen this behaviour from the club before. Under LVG we went into the season with only Herrera and Shaw as signings, had some bad results, and then bought 3 players amid talk of massive fan unrest and how LVG had been betrayed by the board. It all feels a bit deja vu not that i'm unhappy that we're finally spending some money.

The League is by no means finished after 2 games obviously but I've said all along that our best hope for this season is a Europa League win. Which would be very nice by the way :D

Oh yeah Europa is a better route

Hyperbole. If we win on Monday we are ahead of Liverpool. Does that mean Liverpool won’t make the top 4? We win on Monday and get in Casemiro plus 3 others with 35 games to go. What is this nonsense about Top4 chances being gone? Calm down bro.
Well, 3 points is 3 points, and we are not winning on Monday.

Paying €100m for a player from the Dutch League is crazy. Could of got him for half that had we done the deal 2 months ago. The club is constantly ripped off because we are so bad and late at getting transfers done. It’s why ‘the process ‘ is so slow because we pay double on every single player we purchase. Our budget should get us more players in one window.
Antony's price has been around 70-80m all summer so no, we couldn't have had him for 50m. You saw what they did with Martinez.

Getting De Jong after Casemiro would be great. Certainly stronger than what we've been fielding

God I really hope we learn our lesson with the de jong pursuit and make it our last transfer saga.
We’ll be back at it again next summer. Different player, same saga. Barca can get fecked though.

I can only assume you're using words you do t understand.

It isn't, at all. Go back to between the Euros and start of last season, just after he'd been in the team of the tournament.

Find me some posts saying that he's useless and needs to go. I'll wait for you to link them, thanks.

He was never 'worth' the fee but this narrative that he's awful and a waste of space is embrassingly fickle.

Stop going so over the top. It's enough to say "he's not good enough" and leave it at that. Fine.

It's stupid, low iq people who have to go hysterical and over the top, because they lack the ability to control their emotions and think critically.
Please re-read that. You’re a lunatic.

Talk about a day late and a dollar short.

Should have been all guns ablazing from the start of the window , by the the time the window shuts all chance of top 4 will be gone, if it hasn't already.

This is such a loser mentality and I can't believe someone would actually think this.

When will some people realise that the last 4 weeks aren't a concrete standard for how the rest of the season will go?

After 3 game slast season, Arsenal were a laughing stock and in the mud. We had battered Leeds and Newcastle, buoyed by the return of Ronaldo etc and Arsenal were the ones who bottled top 4 come the end of the season.

How are so many football fans so damn fickle?

Top 4 "gone after 2 games" ffs

Please re-read that. You’re a lunatic.

A lunatic for saying the narrative around Maguire hasn't always been that he's dog shit?

First, you clearly don't understand the word lunatic and second, you've done absolutely nothing to suggest that I'm wrong.

You need to fecking grow up if you think that saying Maguire isn't good enough but that people are going over the top about how bad he is "lunacy".

Utter drama queen

If you don't think the narrative around Maguire is significantly more negative now than it was around the Euros ending, you're deluded or have selective memory.

It was much different. There were many saying we'd have won the Europa final if he'd been fit and that we really missed him at the end of the season. I've literally seen people now saying he's barely championship standard.

We need FDJ aswell. But I can’t see it happening this window at all. Especially if we are going for Antony aswell.

Tier 2:

Marseille paying the wages + a conditional purchase obligation...I don't see what's wrong with this deal given how prominent loans to options/obligations are throughout the football world in this window.

If FDJ situation changes and he becomes available United will go for him.

You’re mental if you think they won’t.

Loan with obligation to buy is a good loan.

He's been available all summer and his club trying to push him out the door. He clearly doesn't want to come that badly.
