This sounds ever more like the Sergio Ramos situation from a few years back when we were used as a stalking horse in his contract negotiations.
The difference is, there is no need for Madrid to increase his salary, they have Tchouameni and 3 years of Casemiro left.

If true we're offering him feckloads and a 5 year contract it reeks of desperation.
We’re bottom of the table and just lost 4-0 to Brighton. If that isn’t cause to be desperate for ManUtd then what is? Of course we’re ferking desperate.

We indulged Gabriel Batistuta in the same way, on 2 occasions, when he needed a bit of leverage where his contract extensions were concerned.

It is a different situation though because back then Sergio Ramos did not see his club sign someone else in his position for a transfer record. I think Casemiro would be genuinely interested in going to United and Real Madrid would not be pressed to improve his contract and would let the player decide what to do as a reward for his excellent behavior all these years.

1 bad news report and it all comes crumbling down. We love bad news here at the CAF.

Against the actual signing but when one bad news of it happening we’re also a laughing stock.

Aren’t we supposed to love the club?

I assume that post was more aimed at the whole window not just 1 story. We're being bantered by Elon Musk and Arsenal fans.

Casemiro right now:

Yes, genuinly interested in the money .

Not sure if him jokingly saying he’s going to buy the club is being “bantered” - he said he supported us as a kid

We’ve lost our last 7 away games 21-2 on aggregate. We are fecking desperate.

Of course. But on paper it's exactly the type of transfer we should stay away from, and it would just be further evidence of our shite planning.

But who knows, maybe it will turn out to be good business in the end. He's certainly a great player still.

If he can give us 2 years of good service it’ll be worth it. ETH needs time.

People saying these moves are desperate, we're way past the desperate stage. I wouldn't be surprised if my nan lines up for us on Monday night.

That seems remarkable if true.
Fair play to him. How he likes playing football in the trenches, because it's a real shitstorm over here at the minute.

It's going to get silly, but who's to say we aren't looking at

Casemiro/Caicedo/Felix

There's been lots of talk from high tiered journo's today talking about us being interested in those three players and readying bids.

Its already beyond silly. I know theres an element of if you dont ask the question you will never know the answer but the majority of players we are linked with are all nearly dead certain to not be sold/not want to leave.

People seem to value more what they don't have. Casemiro has status, silverware and love. He is being offered Premier League experience and a contract that doubles his wages. What is offered raises at least one reasonable doubt.

and what’s wrong with that? Both great players, it’s only logical we are ready to pay solid money for them. Obviously both would improve us big time

Ive no issue with that, I just doubt we actually have that money to begin with.

The key is whether United made a formal bid or not. By the looks of things, this is most likely an informal bid via an intermediary, hence why the English journalists can report that United didn't submit a bid.

This is an odd odd window. Can anyone else ever remember a window like this where we get solidly linked with a player, then it gets shot down within a few days, then rinse and repeat constantly. This has been about what, 10 targets in the space of 2 weeks?
Very suspicious

What the absolute feck is going these last few days?!

Its like when a show creates too many subplots and tries to wrap it all up in the final season.

Feck knows if this'll be like Game of Thrones or Shield

There is definitely something weird going on. Is it as simple as our terrible form coupled with media and agents stirring the pot? Maybe. But something just doesn't sit right with the reporting.

That's a pretty solid analogy. At least the beginning of our window made a lot of sense with good targets, even if we're likely getting burned with De Jong, but this last week is pure final season GoT/Dexter
