For all the positivity, who genuinely thinks we're going to finish in the top 4 this season? A lot of the PL predictions vids from various youtubers have started to drop and there will be more in the next week and something that is very striking is that literally all of them have Utd 6th or lower, and it's the same pretty much all over Twitter and other social media platforms. Can't say I disagree with them either. Maybe 5th, ahead of Arsenal at a push. Considering most of us agree we have a better manager than we had last season, should we not be expecting to finish higher than we did in our worst PL season ever?
Agree with them unless Ten Hag works a miracle. Even then, in a season as trying as this squad is paper thin in all areas except CB and AM. 5/6th at best.

It’s very unlikely that Messi catches his CL record, he’s 15 behind him and at this point they’re both scoring like 3 per season.

Honestly ignoring the position it leaves us in, which can be hard to do, at this stage of his career I think we should just oblige him anyway. He's 37 now, making him stay here for another year is so pointless for both parties. We really just need to learn how to let players go.

Is he that far ahead of Messi right now? I could see Messi scoring a handful here and there over the next few seasons and catching up.

Its a records that I have to think won't be beaten by another player for some time. So from that standpoint it's not crazy at 38 years to want to try and add some to the tally. Shame we didn't make the CL this season I'd that really is the motivation.

He had double those last year in the group stage alone.

That was the reason I expected. Means Ronaldo always planned to move once we couldn't qualify for CL yet still didn't bother telling us in time for us to properly prepare to replace him.

Messi's also younger and likely to play longer than Ronaldo in theory so should have more time to surpass Ronaldo's record.

I do!
Even how shitty we played and how disorganized we were as a team last season we still finished 6th, and with Ten Hag and new players I would be very surprised if we don't finish at least 4th.

Ten hg would have to completely revolutionise us. We’d need to avoid injuries and hope a couple of our rivals don’t do as well as expected. We’re 5/6th favourite at present.

Every team needs to avoid injuries to key players, remember Liverpool two years ago.
Anyway, I got faith, we'll be alright this season.

Don’t think that should be the attitude whilst the windows open. Glazers will gobble up any excuse not to spend. Get ETH as many of the parts he desires as possible.

How could a personal record be more important than the goals of the team? That’s something I really fail to understand

If you're 38 and won everything with your teams bar the WC I'm sure it's a little tempting to retire the all time goal scorer in the top club competition.

As far as understanding his motivation, no point. He's a different person than you or I. Look at Pele, someone of comparable stature and he was obsessed with counting goals scored against anyone and everyone.

I prefer to be optimistic, there's still decent time to get a couple of signings in.

He probably did tell us but the club thought they could convince him to stay. As he got more desperate, the news came out.

What he really should have done, had he been smart, is put it in his contract that in the event that we don't make UCL, his contract becomes void.

Also, it now makes sense why we where after Nunez if you think about it.

I'm amazed that some people are shocked that Ronaldo is so self serving. You forget about when he scored a meaningless penalty in 2014 final and acted like he had won the Champions League single handedly or when he spent the 2016 Euro final getting in the way of his manager on the sideline acting like he was dictating proceedings.
Guy is a feckwit. Top 10 player of all time, undoubtedly, but an absolute cock of a man.

Such a proud egoistic man to put a condition that he cannot take his team to cl ? Thats like accepting he is not good enough.. he will never do that..

All he cares about is himself and his CL goals record.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out Ronnie.

Can’t say I’ve seen/heard about either of them acting foolishly.
No white text? Whoring around the FDJ deal for 2 months(a player who doesn't want to be here and wouldn't have jumped at a chance to play for us) and in the process of doing so delaying other deals where the prices have now gone up. Already paid 67m for an Eredivise CB and now Antony deal is costing 100m because they left it too late.

We won’t sign Antony so no issue there. FDJ is most likely to come to United so no problem there either. No deals have been delayed as far as I’m aware, we agreed a price and then have signed 3 players the manager wanted. Complaining about Murtough and Arnold is moaning for moanings sake. Let’s judge in September.

It is Messi. He can have a very good season this time and get like 10 goals in CL then suddenly it gets tight.

What do you mean at this point, they are both scoring like 3 per season?

Messi scored 5 last season in the CL and Ronaldo 6, I expect these numbers to continue falling, so around 3 CL goals per season until they retire. I’d love to see Messi beat him (unless CR continues with us), but just can’t see it happening.

Were one injury away from Rashford, Martial or Sancho and our frontline goes belly up for the moment.

Look at games pre season so far once there not involved as front 3. Standards drop.

Are Amad ,Pellestri, Chong, Elenga good enough? I don't think so.

Bad planning regarding transfers. Nearly month gone now over Ronaldo saga and still no sign of us being proactive and getting players in.

We should make it clear to him (Ronaldo) that he either finds a buyer or he can expect to play in the reserves up until the WC with a view to making the first team squad after the World Cup. Yes I am that petty.

Benzema scored 15 last season alone:lol:
Its funny you seem so certain that Messi can’t score 15 CL goals in a star studded PSG team? Messi have atleast 3 full seasons in CL in him.
That record is very tight and Ronnie knows it very well.

Who fecking cares about the Ronaldo saga at this point. We have other issues that need adressing. Get us a midfielder or two and one or two forwards.
