I don’t understand why that’s holding up the deal, they clearly have the money to pay him, so whats the issue exactly?
Maybe depends who else they owe money to as well. If they pay him then it might snowball. I don't blame him wanting his money. The players took a paycut in good faith.

Yeah so they're working on the assumption they can pass on the De Jong wages, which we wont do

Can he not just push for a move then sue for breach of contract? Barca have some real shady people running the club

FdJ wants to break his contract w Barca and leave, but not without the deferred money he's rightfully owned. Barca need to accept that their own Bobby Bonilla Day is imminent.

The deferred money will be paid to FdJ w interest over the next 5 years. That has to be paid some way, some how, that is suitable for FdJ before he's officially transferred.

His ideal situation is staying so hes playing the best hand by keeping silent

Easy to resolve. Just tell them to take that off the top of what they're asking. I mean, you can't expect to have your cake and eat it too.
Or they could just sell him and also come to a sensible payment plan to repay the debt on £X over a number of years.
I get why they don't want to take it off the tranfer free as it will reduce their gross revenue, which can impact how much they can spend on transfers.

That would be a laugh though.

This is exactly what they want to do though. They will be telling him they can't afford to settle his debt on one hand, and dishing out another set of ridiculous contracts to Lewandoski, Bernardo Silva and Raphina on the other. Bigger con men than the Conservative government.

In regards to FdJ & the money Barca owe him, I think UEFA or FIFA need to step in & say, until you've paid the players you currently have what you owe them then you can not sign any new players.

You have to wonder how they actually managed to convince the players (and their agents) how the club could possibly afford to pay it all back over the coming years of their contracts.

After all the corrupt shit Barca do you still got players like Raphina and Lewa rejecting other offers because they dream of Barca. Their pull is insane.

Always had a soft spot for Barcelona - easy to say that one is gone

Surely with the amounts of money at stake, literally tens of millions, the wage deferall contracts agreed to by all parties would have had clauses relating to what happens in the event of a transfer. Perhaps that might actually explain why neither party is openly wanting a transfer so as not to breach some condition...

It's why when you think of the biggest clubs in the world, yes we're up there but we'll never be as big as Barca or Real.

We don't have 'it' whereas they definitely do.

How Bartomeu isn't in prison for a long, long time though, I have no idea. He's fecked them completely.
