Imagine how upset you’ll be when you hear that him and his dad had a meeting with us after the last game of the season in a hotel down here. As I said the issue for the deal is what you are asking and what we are willing to pay. So every chance it may not happen unless we both move a bit on the fee. Remember he would have joined us already if Cooper hadn’t vetoed it a the season before last. Would also have signed the summer he came back from Lincoln was it? But we didn’t pay the price you wanted back then.

Explain to me why it’s laughable - we are better than you and have been for a few years now. Would be a smart choice to move to a stable established Premier League club, something Forest have yet to prove they are.

The meeting is common knowledge up here, it doesn’t mean anything, just as yet another unverified “in the know” source is meaningless too. Brennans dad is very vocal about his son’s career, always has been, he openly criticised Chris Houghton but is very much a fan of Cooper. It’s laughable because Johnson’s potential is better then Brentford. You are a small club punching above your weight for the moment buts that’s it. When BJ does go, it’ll be to an established Champs league club. It won’t be this summer though.

€70m in a total package is a big amount of money, but Newcastle's interest may have driven up that price considerably. He'll be a good fit for Liverpool under Klopp, and I wouldn't be surprised if he also plays the Firmino false 9 role from time to time.

EDIT: That's the release clause amount, so Liverpool are paying it all up front. Yeah, that's a big, big call from them.
