Weren’t we linked with him last summer for like 50-60 mill?
I don't know about last summer, but we may have been linked for that much 2-3 summers ago. Since then, though, injuries have held him back, and he's struggled to realise his potential as a result.

Must be the 2-3 year old rumours i remember then. Time flies when we’re shit…

  • Grimaldo's relationship with Benfica's getting worse.
  • The player's entering the last year of his contract.
  • Benfica are open to letting the player go.

So they have a manager yet? How many players from last seasons squad are gone?
Yes. Not sure but they’ve added quality for the division they are in and likely more to follow. Lawrence is definitely gone though.

Looks like Romano's Tweeting this out in response to the recent Mundo Deportivo news on Azpilicueta:

Chelsea go on tour on Saturday. The idea of Barça and Azpilicueta would be to close the deal earlier and prevent the Navarrese from getting on the plane.
TIC, TAC

The club's decision to sign Azpilicueta is a decisive moment for the club

The idea of FC Barcelona and the player would be to reach an agreement in principle before Saturday

Chelsea's owners have just arrived in Barcelona!

In the next few hours the meeting with FC Barcelona can take place to negotiate the arrivals of Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.

EDIT: This Chelsea-affiliated journalist doesn't mention anything about Frenkie de Jong

Todd Boehly, Chelsea owner, just arrived in Barcelona. Hunted by Gerard Romero's Jijantes at the airport. Key hours for Azpilicueta, but also for Marcos Alonso, De Jong and even Dest....

It'll be interesting if they just sell him for cash or if they start talking about a swap. I think Chelsea wanted a straight cash deal first, so if they continue that way then that's a positive for us.

One of the most reliable Barcelona journalists says this about Dest:

According to Dest's representatives, the player's name is not on the table at the Barcelona-Chelsea meeting

Loan departure of Fábio Silva to Anderlecht has Wolverhampton reopening talks with Benfica for Gonçalo Ramos, who is seen internally at Luz as "negotiable" at the moment. Bruno Lage knows the player very well.

More from Marsch:

The full quote about Raphinha:

My guess is, I don't know. We just have to wait and see what happens in the next couple of days. There's urgency from his end, I think, to come up with a solution. We have to in the next couple of days see how things stand and see how we go.

It hasn't been an easy time for him this summer. Things have come and gone and there have been a lot of little discussions. Right now he's our player. He showed up today and trained with everybody, he had such a good attitude. We had a very open and honest conversation about while he's here he's part of us, and then we'll see what happens. It's still a long way to go in the transfer window. I know he has hopes and dreams. I know he loves this team and this club and he loves being here. We'll see how things progress day by day.

So Barca will be signing 3 of Chelsea’s back 5 from last season? Such a weird club.

Couldn't find the outlet on the google doc or the banned list. Please no infraction if they're shit.

Matt Law is reporting the same thing that Chelsea are in advanced discussions to close the deal. So journos close to Chelsea are saying the same thing.

Any mention about the fee? He wasn't exactly cheap for City

Chelsea want £40m, which is about what City paid for him. The last thing Matt Law said was the negotiations were between £40m to £50m.

Is it just me that thinks that he is the spitting image of Ruud Gullit? I don’t mean just the hair, his facial features too is like looking at a young Gullit

I think likewise.

Anyway, Chelsea buying a left-footed centre-back could be good news for United's chase of Martinez.

Maybe we should transfer the money for De Jong’s transfer directly to Leeds.
