Pretty aimless dig for the sake of it….we didn’t ‘pass up’ on half of those players anywayCheers, Samuel.
Derided on here for years in the Mourinho era….it’ll be great to see how he fares in the PL
They all won either the league or the Champions League whilst being in the first team. Are they elite? Feel like a lot of them bar vinicius are currently in a bit of a funk in their careers. Injuries or adjusting to big clubs.
The latest news on Inter's transfer market, from possible replacements for Perisic to the possible signing of Mkhitaryan
Not only Ivan Perišić, who will sign the contract in the next few hours: decision made. Tottenham has also made Alessandro Bastoni a target for the defence. Antonio Conte has expressly requested it
We want Torres. We can’t sign everyone. If they get Bastoni without any serious competition from us It will show just how naive our scouting department really are.
How did we pass on De Jong??? He was never choosing us over Barca.
Alphonso is the only one I'd really class as elite in that respect and he's missed most of the season. Think elite should be reserved for what it is, same with world class. Think it's hyperbole to emphasise his personal opinion, which he tends to do and why he's a frustrating journo. They all won either the league or the Champions League whilst being in the first team.
We have 3 centre backs leaving (Bailly, Jones and Tuenzebe) possibly one of Maguire or lindelof too we can certainly afford to bring in 2 CB's. If one had to choose between Torres and Bastoni, I know who I would choose. We want Torres. We can’t sign everyone.
Watch the vampiric-looking bugger tear the place to shredsYeah gonna be an interesting one. Surely he won't cut it in the PL now?
Well, we spent 74m on a forward last year. Can't see us paying 60m or more on another one this season. FDJ will be very expensive. What's this, the usual "we can only do one thing at a time" excuse.
McTominay was the first person I thought of reading that tweet. Hope he practicing his hard face!We now at least have one person at the club who can see how shite our midfield is, that's progress. Scandalous how we've basically pinned our hopes on McTominay suddenly learning how to play the DM role for the past few years.
Greenwood, Cavani, Lingard and maybe Martial will be off though?Well, we spent 74m on a forward last year. Can't see us paying 60m or more on another one this season. FDJ will be very expensive.
So we’re getting a big fee for Martial then? As none of the others will generate any fee.Greenwood, Cavani, Lingard and maybe Martial will be off though?
Some reporters simply don't understand the difference. There are probably many players "we passed on" where we contacted the club / player - and they either rejected our bid (and later sold the player to someone else) or where the player simply chose soneone else. Or where you feel you don't need that player the most and you only have so much to spend.
Martin Edwards wrote in his biography that if United had known that Hughes was gonna leave for Barcelona - they would have signed Lineker. But they thought they would have Hughes for many seasons and felt they needed other positions strengthened more than another striker.
Ferguson said the same thing with Cantona and Zidane. He thought he would have Cantona 2-3 more seasons and he felt they couldnt both play - suddenly Zidane was gone and Cantona retired 12 months later at the age of 30.
The only player Ferguson openly admitted they passed on - which they shouldnt have, was John Barnes. He had asked one of his scouts to keep track of Barnes - and he got a dossier back from that scout saying he wasn't convinced. Ferguson listened to the scout, opted against Barnes and fired the scout a while later for being too cautious.
I am sure a lot of fans / reporters asked ....why didn't we try to sign Sadio Mane ? At least until the player himself admitted a few days ago, he was this close to signing for us.
