Wow I wonder where he got the explosive news that the loan is two years.

Perhaps the official site?
The official site also states that the purchase option is mandatory, but I wanted to highlight the difference in that and what both Matteo and Marca have revealed. Apparently, the purchase isn't necessarily mandatory but is conditional and based on easy-to-meet conditions. Atletico Madrid should have stated something about this in their official announcement, but they've only mentioned that this is a loan for now.

- Barça has sold €130 million [worth of players] and reduced the payroll by €145 million (from €565 [million] to €420 million).
- Salaries are currently 85% of the club's income.

Griezmann lowers the salary he had at Barça

He is on the same salary scale as Suárez, Oblak and Koke

Atleti pays the entire salary and €10 million for the [loan] transfer and agrees to purchase a €40M option at the end of the course

Most of Arsenal's business looks ok to me in the long run. Tavares looks good, White should do well, Odegaard is classy and should get better, Tomiyasu was fancied by many clubs. The trouble is it doesn't improve them very much right now, and I suspect Arteta will be fired soonish tbh. Plus they spent £24m on Ramsdale which is just inexplicable.

Yeah they went all-in on a long term re-build but it means that this season's a write-off. And it's one thing to bank on a youth player you've seen for a while like ESR and another to sign random prospects from around the world and hoping they come good.

I feel like they should've added some more proven, first team quality players instead - Xhaka, Bellerin, Leno the obvious upgrade targets. Need to think about replacing Auba and Lacazette as well..

How is it 130m in sales? Any breakdown?
They seem to be including the purchase options/obligations for some of their players currently out on loan in the calculations. Here's the breakdown (note: the fees exclude add-ons to calculate a guaranteed total return)
  • Sales
    • Emerson Royal: €25m
    • Junior Firpo: €15m
    • Jean-Clair Todibo: €8.5m
    • Carles Aleña: €5m
    • Rey Manaj: €2.7m
    • Ilaix Moribla: €16m
  • Loans + purchase options/obligations
    • Francisco Trincão: £25m (~€29.14m)
    • Antoine Griezmann: €40m
  • Total: €125.34 €141.34
It's ~€5m less than the €130m claimed in the Tweet, but it's not that far away, either.

EDIT: I forgot the Ilaix sale, so I included that as well.

They bought Emerson this window for 9m and then paid Betis a sell on % which was reportedly 5m.. so they made about 10m from the deal.. and that is not accounting for the (small) signing on fee + agent fee ..

edit: add Moriba as ^^ pointed out... Still.. the 130m is adding 70m in purchase options ..
The wage to turnover is the important thing.. if it is down to 85% of their covid year revenue, then they should be fine..

Turkey have a nice thing going, leaving their transfer window open a week after the big leagues to essentially mop up all the undesirables that the big clubs could not shift and cannot register to play.

Is the Trincao one an obligation or option?

didnt barca get rid of Arthor Melo to bring in this guy
Everyone lost out in that swap deal. Juventus don't play Arthur that much, Barcelona don't play Pjanic that much, and both players' reputations have gone downhill.

Maybe they've not added the obligation/option of purchase prices but they've put in the loan fees and maybe a % of the Cucurella transfer?

If I exclude the option/obligation fees and include the loan fees + Cucurella's sell-on amount, then the total's way below €130m.

After the transfer window? Or do loans work different?
The close of the transfer window only restricts incoming player transfers regardless of it being a loan or a purchase. It doesn't, however, stop players from leaving to clubs that still have their transfer window open at the moment (like Russia, Turkey, etc.).

More on Pjanic:

Miralem Pjanic has lowered his salary by 60% as announced by Radio Catalunya so right now he earns €3.2 million net and during this season Besiktas pays €2.75 [million]. If he is going to return to Barça he will continue to earn €3.2 [million].

This is interesting:

  • Claim that Newcastle would make more quality signings in a "normal" year
  • Coverage on Joe Willock's transfer and how that's a great signing
  • Newcastle typically pay their fees up front (no instalments).
    • This time, though, they are paying their fees via instalments.
  • Newcastle do invest in the squad contrary to what others say
    • 10th-highest net spend in the PL this summer

The fans of Newcastle are some of the most deluded and entitled fan base there is. Think they are far bigger than they are...

thats not the point is it, Ashley has used NUFC for his own ends and the club certainly hasn't received fair value for the benefits its provided ashleys retail empire. now claiming to be a fair responsible owner is somewhat glossing over that fact.
