I know he's 32, so he doesn't fit the profile age wise, but Axel Witsel wouldn't be the worst DM signing we could make?!

Nope I agree. Got called a 'FIFA Brain' for suggesting it.

For that sort of money quoted it's a perfect stop gap signing to help out in midfield until we manage to get a better/younger player next summer.

Not the most reliable but still one to ponder

Would we at least try to get a player coming the other way for midfield?

They must have a few spare midfielders. Feel like I'm trying to do Murdoch's job today... we need a midfielder godammit.

Only interested in letting Martial go if we get a CM in. No point losing someone for nothing at this stage.

Is he that much better than Matic? Add to that he was out injured for half of last season. I’m all for getting another body in, but he doesn’t seem like a perfect signing.

I'm one of his biggest critics, but I actually thought Martial did a good job on Sunday against wolves when he came on. He worked hard and was disciplined and helped us see out the game for the win.

This said, I'd not exactly cry if we sold him even for 25-30 million to PSG and used the money to get a CM.

I’m actually pleased with this. I think we’re at a point now where we want to sign players who lift us to the next level and I’m certainly not convinced Saul would.

We either need a player who fits us perfectly tactically in a very specific role (metronomic DM) or we get a player who is a massive upgrade on the 8s that we have otherwise we’re just wasting money and bloating.
