Wasn't he doing well in Portugal though ?
Remember reading that he was getting interest from Benfica.

Yep I did think that. However then I thought not everyone has to play European football to make a good life, so good luck to him.

True, and I'm sure he'll be earning a good wage. However, he was ridiculously hyped as a youngster, but at 25 he has yet to win a senior cap for Scotland and hasn't done much at club level. It's fair to say that he never lived up to the early hype.

Brentford know what FCM want (obviously  ) and are prepared to pay it - issue at the moment is Rennes have offered wages above what we want to pay and we don't want to break our wage structure. Maybe a deal to be done with bonuses playing a heavy part in his contract, especially if Rennes are serious about not coming back in for him.

  • Tottenham
    • Cristian Romero
      • Atalanta rejected Spurs' offer of 55 million Euros guaranteed (50 + 5 according to prior Tweets).
      • Romero wants to play for Tottenham and continues to push for the deal to close.
    • Harry Kane
      • No new offer from City yet
      • City would go back in for Kane if the player takes a stronger stance.
  • Arsenal
    • Interest in James Maddison but nothing advanced with Leicester yet
    • Ruben Neves is an option but not the first one
    • Locatelli wants Juventus
    • Bellerín: no advanced negotiations with Inter
  • Liverpool
    • Henderson: no agreement over a contract extension yet
      • Many clubs interested, including PSG
    • Saúl: interest is there, but nothing advanced
      • May change if the swap deal with Griezmann is all over
  • Camavinga in no rush to decide on his next club
    • If he leaves this summer, about 35-40 million Euros will be the fee.
    • Camavinga won't rule out leaving as a free agent next summer.
  • Chelsea
    • No chance to sign either Lewandowski or Lukaku
    • Hence, Chelsea are all in on Haaland
      • Dortmund yet to receive an offer or be formally approached
      • Only a crazy offer would tempt Dortmund (not even 150 million Euros would make them budge).

Lille want to sign Atleti's second goalkeeper Ivo Grbić but the rojiblancos will simply let him leave on loan. There was no agreement between the French club and Sergio Rico [of PSG] who is still in the market.

[Onana to Lyon is] Now closer. Much more. Lyon wants to close it as soon as possible but is NOT signed yet. New clubs are appearing too. Let's see how it evolves in the next few days.

What a terrible initial offer that is by Juventus. No wonder Arsenal entered the race.

Monaco has relaunched discussions for Jean Lucas. According to our information, the arrival of the OL player is on track, but there is no agreement between the two clubs yet.

The link in the 2nd Tweet goes to a transfer news feed. You'd have to scroll down for a bit to get to Arteta's Xhaka quote.

So it's either Grealish or Kane for City, who've decided to go for Grealish.

Norwegian based journalist writing articles for a Spanish newspaper, somehow getting the inside track on the inner workings of the Manchester United boardroom. Not buying it.

As for evidence, this is what he said a few minutes ago:

I bet it's something he read on somebody else's Twitter. Probably Dean Jones again.

This may fit better in here:

With reported interest in Camavinga and Neves, reports of Ole and the coaching staff looking at a 4-3-3 look adequate.
Makes me think that's the sole reason Donny was brought in - being a good #8. Lack of solid defending partnership and specialist CDM probably were the reasons we never opted for such formation last season and thus the reason Donny was massively underused. He doesn't fit exactly at the double pivot nor is a pure #10.

As the clock ticks down and 31st of August comes closer it will be really interesting to see who leaves and will we be able to stack some money from sales to reinvest in a CDM.
And if we don't - will we still try to play in a 4-3-3.

What I was saying was that none of Saul/Neves/Camavinga are capable of allowing both Pogba and Bruno to play, we'll get ran through.

what is this new bullshit that keeps popping up on the forum? Pogba and Bruno played together tons of times last year and we didn’t just get “ran through”?

If you mean allowing them to play as pure out and out attacking midfielders with three forward ahead of them, well no, there is simply no defensive midfielder that would allow that. Busquests still needs a Xavi and now a De Jong. Makelele had Essien, Thiago etc.
