I saw an article linking him to us. Actually 'linking' is understatement. It was written that he wanted to join his dream club or wanted to make his dream move to United.

I suppose Romano was bombarded with questions about the truth of that. He'd be a good replacement of Bailly or Jones - 4th or 5th choice defender, but I doubt he'll be excited about being so far down in the pecking order. And even if he is in our shortlist (experienced CB on a free) - he'd be probably on the 2nd CB shortlist somewhere towards the bottom of the list.

As much as I like Grealish - £100 million for a 26 year old midfielder like him is insane.

Not really. City already have the creativity and technical players in attack that will win you trophies (we do not), if they sign Grealish they are certain to win the PL.

Do they have someone who can finish the attacks though? Ilkay Gundogan is their league top scorer with 13 goals.
I know that they're drilled to work together like clockwork, but I still think that they would need a good finisher. I just don't see them winning back to back titles without out and out striker.

Erm ... We all know that we've met with Camavinga's representatives. However I'm not willing to believe this report coming from ESPN. Mainly because all the players mentioned are the same mould of midfielders as Pogba. There were reports during the Camavinga tweet flurries, that Eduardo's pursuit is not connected to Pogba's departure. In other words if Pogba stays and signs extension we still would be pursuing one of those players.
So I wouldn't give too much credibility to that report.

That's what Kane is for

Its been the club policy for many years to do some groundwork with our top targets for eventualities, just to have things clearer about price and willingness of players, so I dont especially doubt it.

I'm not buying that :)
Kroos, Ramos, ADM - right on top of my head, speak the other way around.

I think you failed to acknowledge one possibility in these reports.
Ole most likely wants Pogba to stay meaning he likes what Pogba has to offer.
Pogba does not want to extend. So, Ole looks for another MF like Pogba.
Fundamentally, I don't see any harm in that especially if keeping Pogba would require record wages for the player. I just don't think he's worth it.
What I do not want to see is us giving Pogba a massive contract to extend and he continues to play LW and be inconsistent.
Even if he doesn't extend and he's not sold this summer, we're still going to see Pogba playing LW due to Rashford being out for several months.
As far as Ole's concerned, Pogba is first choice for that spot behind Rashford which is grim.

Bailey is a good player and it's pretty good type of business.

slowly but surely they're building there an interesting team with Buendia, Baily, Traore and Watkins upfront.

Villa should have got Joachim Anderson.

Bailey willbe a good signing. Interesting if they get Ward Prowse too. I actually think at the moment they won’t be significantly weaker by losing Grealish, considering they spent probably most of last season without him.

Grealish replacement, I guess?
Been linked and had a bid turned down long before City began talks with Villa for Grealish, unlikely a replacement but their willingness to increase their bid could be a sign they've got more money to play with.

So was Scheiderlin, arguably. It's hard to think of a bigger dud.

I didn't want Schneiderlin and he was never going to be anything more than a busy midfielder.

That signing seemed to be to appease the fans and they couldn't decide between Schweinstieger and Schneiderlin so they signed both.

Thank God those dark days are in the past now. Neves ability and Schneiderlins can't be compared.

So Villa spending the JG money on Buendia, Bailey and Ward-Prowse? Not bad that.

I don’t think Saul is coming to us. It’s more likely to Liverpool
He offers far more to them than he does us too. A better Wijnaldum replacement than he is for our midfield two.
