Years of "wE PaiD tHe sAme AMouNt fOr VaRane " are in front of us. Be prepared. Can’t wait for him and Varane to be this season’s player comparison debate, as the Twitter teens yell ‘fraud’, ‘my defender’, ‘get ratioed yall’ and all those other overused meme phrases at each other
Which is of course nonsense if the total cost of the respective transfers are compared..Years of "wE PaiD tHe sAme AMouNt fOr VaRane " are in front of us. Be prepared.
A blast from the past!
Wasn't a prediction. That's a failed prediction that would bury someone nowadays
I hurtled down on the train from Euston to Lille to sign the young French defender Raphael Varane, David Gill was getting into the finer points of the contract with Lens when Zinedine Zidane got wind of this and somehow scooped him up for Real Madrid from under our noses.
Swap for Bailly & cash?Luckhurst has been saying we want another CB after Varane but the price for Kounde would be more than Varane surely? Unless we’ve given up on trippier and he can cover rb too.
Norwood's tweet was the reason Zidane found out.. and Craig Norwood no longer works for United.Wasn't a prediction.
I reckon teams talk to agents to get wind of interest. If a player says 'id like to play in this league" but thats it, then I expect we would see numerous clubs in for him.I don't get how there's "no other clubs in the race" for Varane.

If however a player has talked and is looking at a specific club (I feel the same for Sancho too) then, unless a club has the ability to trump it with a lot more money (as weve seen chelsea and city do a few times, and even us in the 90s), then I guess the clubs might feel its a waste and look elsewhere?
If that makes sense
