Do we offer him a package that he can’t refuse for 1-2 years and delay signing a long term younger player that will potentially be here for many years? I’d rather we sign the long term player.
Depends on how much money Utd want to spend this window. They need a CB, RB, DM and a RW. Looks like everyone is going to try and fleece Utd for transfer fees so they might need to pick up a freebie or two. I do think that he might go to the MLS anyway though.

My friend wich is a Liverpool fan even said to me yesterday "Im so tired of reading about Sancho to Manchester United that at this point i just want you to sign him, even if i dont want you lot to get him!"
Woodward 4D chess move. Making everyone dead tired of this news, so no competition for his signature.

This makes things interesting.

Will Madrid allow both CBs to leave?

Surly, both can't go to PSG.

There is only a limited number of clubs that can afford to pay their respective wages.

Would we take Ramos for a seaon or two If RV does want a move to PSG?
Sergio Ramos smells like a Chelsea signing. They're looking for another CB but they're focusing the cash for forward signing, and Hakimi. If they hell bent on making Dortmund blink, they need to offer a ridiculous fee. Getting someone like Ramos on free transfer just like Thiago Silva, would allow them with that scenario.

Reminder that there is no such thing as a freebie and sergio ramos would likely cost something like £20M a year...

Pau Torres on, say, £8M a year would be cheaper on a yearly basis for example

United dont care about logic like this. Everyone already wants Ronaldo why not Ramos. Heck we could get Bale as well while we're at it.

I'm not sure Silva & Ramos would work together but that wouldn't stop Chelsea I guess

Don't forget we're also bidding for Trippier so that's another 30+ year old. Average age of the squad would be heading each in the wrong direction.

I think most people realise that free transfers still have wage costs and signing on fees. I think the Glazers are happy to absorb the wages in the weekly running costs. I think they are less happy to stump up large quantities in transfer fees as it will probably involve taking out additional lending. The Glazers don't spend their own money on Manchester Utd.

What? That doesn't make any sense?

Don't get where this idea that ramos is slow comes from either

Think he has been under rated. But at the same token I dont agree with that, think its an over staetment. He fitted perfectly into that Liverpool midfield, not sure he does for PSG and he certainly isnt better than Veratti....but they are totally differnt players anyway

Didn't mean he was better than Veratti.
Gueye, Herrera, Danilo Peirera he's miles better than them.

Agree was always a poor signing from the start. Lot of people really bigged him up as a great signing at the time too on here. Good player, not a great player and never saw we he realyl fitted in other than a squad player. Still feel the same. He hasnt played enough but I dont see how he gets that many games anyway thogh....and people saying he has looke dgood when he has played, what are they watching? Generally when he has he has been anomynous and looked lost

Donny is a good player with great talent but yeah he was not the type of player we needed last summer or this summer.

Yes and for £40m more we could have signed a player that would cover Fernandes, Rashford and have allowed us to sell Pogba and Mata in Grealish. Yet we spent a similar fee on VDB and too young rw....now we are looking to spend £80m on another right winger.

Generally I think Ole transfers have actually been good and of course longer term either of those yougnsters could turn into great signings, but VDB never did and never does make sense as a signing to me

Again we see the scattergun approach they used for many years, instead of spending more on one player with the quality needed the next season instead of 3 for the future and not really fixing our problem areas.

Haha either that or we have the world`s worst negotiation team on the planet and greedy cnuts for owners

How often does that happen to United? People keep saying Maguires pace but we’ve literally never had a goal against because of it
I thought it was widely acknowledged that a problem we've been having is that our backline rarely pushes up because in Maguire and Lindelof there's feck all pace, so typically we sit deep and rarely squeeze opposition high up the pitch. It's partly why loads of people are clamouring for Varane - he's absolutely rapid.

He’s an older player so therefore he must be slow. That’s the thinking rather than actually going and finding out from madrid forums or something
Is that what football has come to? The prerequisite for having an opinion on players from other clubs is to scour international club forums? Sounds like a fecking bore. I watched him against Chelsea in the semi-final and he was absolutely crap, he couldn't keep up with them whatsoever.

but the support around him as rarely been top quality compared to Juve and obviously France.
I completely agree. Whilst I don’t think renewing Pogbas contract is worth it considering the wages he’ll be demanding, he’s had to play with mediocre midfielders in our team so far.

Just by adding Bruno and playing him on the left wing, we’ve seen glimpses of what he’s capable of in a setup based around amplifying his potential. By replacing Fred/Scott or both with new midfielders, we might get to see a whole new version of Pogba.

Everton at home springs to mind. Pass to DCL , before his cross.
Also we tend to play a deeper defensive line due to his and Lindelof's lack of pace. When Baily is next to him we tend to play higher up the pitch and is usually Baily that tends to mop up.
FYI if we play higher up the pitch , less of a ground for the DMs to cover, so no need for top-quality DM/CM to bridge the gap between the CBs and forwards.

I would actually be willing to sell him and use funds elsewhere as long as we recuperate the funds we used to acquire him.

Clearly he’ll always be backup to Bruno at #10 and he’s also clearly not reliable enough to play in central midfield in the PL.

If this is true, then our first-team defenders are Maguire, Lindelöf, and Bailly. After them, there's Mengi and Will Fish. We'll have to go for a new CB as I don't see either Mengi or Fish to be ready for the first team at this time.

EDIT: More info; also, why do you delay the additional details, Shrager?

Do you or anyone else know how Mengi did this past season?

I would love to see him brought into the first team fold and see how he does.

Apparently there are no issues with pace in our centre backs

The fact Villa have the confidence to go after one of Arsenal's best players shows you what a mess that club is in. Anyone thinks they can pick them off at this point.
