So you'll be the first singing OGS praises if he gets top 4 then?

With no more transfers in, top 4 would be brilliant! I want United win PL but can’t see it with half the squad in middle table quality.

The way a few people are going on about signing Dembele, you'd think that we have Dalglish as our DOF and putting in Woodward as our main striker.

How the hell is signing Dembele, a World cup finalist, ON LOAN, such a bad thing?

Why sign him on loan? You could literally play Phil Jones there and see no difference. Both can't stay fit for 2 minutes.

Would be interesting if we got Sancho on a permanent AND Dembele on loan.
To good to be true I know, but Dembele with a risk free option to buy means we could at least get a closer look at him
It also means we could ship James out on loan and have quality at both wings, along with depth, in what is going to be a very demanding year with not much in the way of breaks

You just answered your own question. His talent is undoubted, but he is injury prone. Hence it would be smarter to try him out on loan instead of a permanent signing.

We literally need a RW to play games not take punts on injury prone players.

no idea but that is far from a good enough reason to move on a younger keeper who looks like he may well emulate DDGs career at United.

Take a lesser fee for all I care but letting Henderson go to a direct competitor is madness
I wasn't the poster who suggested selling Hendo so I do agree with you. However, DDG is pretty much unshiftable now. The only clubs that pay those sorts of wages already have top keepers and their keepers are on a lot less than DDG.

At the start of the window a lot of posters were making ridiculous assumptions like 30 mil for Lingard, 25 for Smalling, 20 for Pereira, 15 for Jones, Rojo, Mata. Dreamers!

This window has proved our deadwood very difficult to move on and DDG (although not dead wood) impossible to move on too.

Arjen Robben couldn’t stay fit until he started staying fit. Not every player who has bad luck with injuries keeps having bad luck with injuries.

PSG could be a possibility? They have Navas, who is a good keeper but not top-tier.

I mean every player we have at United is only here because we pay them a ton of money.

That narrative was just mostly just spin. If it wasn't for covid Pogba wouldn't be here and he scored tonight.

Incredible.

Why’s this narrative still being spun, even after countless reports of Pogba being happy at United?

And Cavani

442 baby :)

What's amazing is that DDG's performance had been declining prior to that last contract - I thought bigger contracts were also a reward for better performance, why then did Glazers or Ed sign off on such a big contract, also knowing that Henderson was producing good performances week in, week out, at that point.
We've put ourselves in a similar position with Matic, and I can see the same happening with Pogba's contract.

This has been happening for a few years now, remember how many windows it took to shift Darmian. Am pretty sure Lingard will remain at the club this window and I wouldn't be surprised if Dalot remains as well.
The Dalot situation is mind blowing! What was the thought process behind buying a young £20m RB then another one for £50m a season later, when a promising youngster (Laird, injuries permitting) is on our books.

That side of the club is in absolute shambles, and the inability to shift deadwood is partly blocking the path of better players.
Many praise Ole for his transfers in, but I don't see it except for Bruno (remains to be seen about VDB).

@iHicksy Do you have any adblockers, ublock etc?
If Chrome is your browser of choice, then download Chrome Beta and see if that works for you.

In fairness; I would suggest we have made little to no attempt to shift DDG. It’d be a very, very brave move by Ole and one thing I think Ole lacks is balls of steel to do stuff like that.

add in the fact that clubs probably aren’t looking at him because of the way the market is and it becomes a no-brainer go keep them both.

DDG’s value is unlikely to drop much further and by the end of the season we will know if Henderson is capable or not.

We can decide on the GK situation next season and not really lose out either way.

Re Dembele
Ryan Giggs wasn’t consistently for at a young age, constantly getting niggles and hamstring pulls. I remember fergie saying that they had to tweak his fitness routines and I think something about the running style too. Then he just took off so to speak

Guys, none of the tweets display for me in this thread. I just see "loading tweet". This is a recent thing (using chrome). Any ideas? Googling told me to clear cookies and cache but no joy.

Wait for the tweet to load.

Giggs did change his fitness routine to include Yoga which helped but he also stopped sprinting at full speed. I read an interview where he said he had to limit himself to something like 90%. If he went full pace his hamstrings would just blow up.
That gave him more consistency but he obviously had to adapt his game which he managed to do successfully. Not a lot of pacy players are capable of that when they lose a bit of pace.

This happens to me from time to time. I'm also using chrome. Refreshing normally sorts it.

Even spurs are adding more new bodies than us.

How would they set up with all these attackers? Don't see rumor of any outgoing among Spurs attackers beside Alli.

Carlos Vinicius style is similar to Benzema in my eye.

The norwegian NT is shaping up nicely. Some big clubs represented. Real Madrid. AC Milan. RB Leipzig. Borussia Dortmund. We only need a player in Manchester United, now! Haaland incoming next summer!

I remember reading an article that said that even at 36 years old Giggs was still the fastest player at the club. But like you just said, he had to limit his sprinting speed to stop his hamstrings blowing out.

We don't need Haaland, in a few years we'll have the best of the lot playing in our first team- Isak Hansen-Aarøen.
