You think Woodward is doing a.... good job?

I don’t recall saying that!!!

he just cant win either way. He tries to get the best deal for outgoing players and people whinge (Smalling). He tries not to get the club’s pants pulled down for incoming players and people whinge (Sancho).

I’ve got a novel idea. Just wait until the window closes and then lets see what happens

I would argue though that the Glazers think he’s done/doing a great a job and it might be hard to argue against it from a business point of view

Ah Jesus, Can we at least put a bid of €20m in? I know we have wan Bissaka but lamptey for that price would be great.

Not sure who this guy is but pretty sure this is utter bollocks, would be amazed if we sold him just as he is making his break through. He is a key part of our plans to break into the top ten, unless we’re suddenly broke. Which I’m pretty sure we’re not, we’ve spent close to nothing this summer and our owner isn’t exactly hard up.

Elfrink is the main man for PSV news and he's reporting that PSV are not wasting any time and have approved the signing of Ibrahim Sangare with the signing possibly largely completely today.

@bucky It'll be interesting to see how he does at PSV. It's one of the teams I'm following this season.

Bit late, but I think it's a good move for him. Didn't follow him much last season, but apparently he took a step back, so this might be perfect for his career.

Hold on, I read that as United paying his wages in full, but I can see how it could equally be Lazio covering his wages. The story is behind a paywall.

It's an unrelated article

I read it as Lazio are covering his wages, but I could be wrong.

I'm biased but i think Jovic year long loan would be a good piece of business for us. He's on around €4.5m per year so it wouldn't be that expensive of a deal.

Also:
  • Rudiger will leave (already covered)
  • If Declan Rice comes in, Jorginho can leave
  • Marcos Alonso's future in doubt

€9m looks a potential bargain for PSV and their new coach (Schmidt) favours a high press, fast transition play style which could suit Sangare IMO.

Will we manage to push Telles and Douglas Costa over the line? Real gripping stuff, I for one will be glued to Sky Sports news

Maybe even a last second raid on Bournemouth and Watford? Chairmen all across the Championship are no doubt braced for a call from Sir Ed!

Why did the numpty sign the new contract with Chelsea then? If you’re under 23 at Chelsea you may as well move on. No player is ever given the chance to make it there.
He suffered a bad injury and Chelsea went and signed a load of attackers, so it wasn't a crazy decision from him to sign the contract at the time.

The De Telegraaf report is from Mike Verweij:

Translation:
BREAKING: Ajax are in contacts with both Werder Bremen and FC Utrecht for Davy Klaassen and Sean Klaiber [respectively]. Reinforcement in midfield and in defense is on the way for the Amsterdam club.

He is same level as James. United should not be looking at these average players.

Good luck to whoever pays 50 million for him. Average player.

would fit in with average players like Maguire, Shaw, Martial and Rashford and co.

The issue isn't that Woodward is trying to get the best deals in this window. The issue is he has already set a precedent for how United do business before: Paying obscene wages to top players (Sanchez) and even more obscene wages to players that don't even make the match day squad (Jones, Smalling, Lingard, etc). Breaking our transfer record several times over and boasting about how much strength we have in the market. Being unable to quickly identify targets and either acquire them for what the club deems reasonable or move on, instead getting taken to the cleaners (Maguire) or getting stuck in a saga with no way out (Sancho).

Because of our actions in the past, we are stuck with underperforming, overpaid players that offer pretty much no value on the open market to other teams. This means that we pretty much can't raise any meaningful funds via selling unless we sell an important player in our XI (Lukaku), and we have a bloated payroll.

Similarly, on the buying end teams know of our financial strength as well as the immense public pressure from fans for the club to improve the team properly, and hold us for ransom on players that would cost only a fraction of what we end up paying. Which means we either have to cave to their demands and further weaken ourselves in other clubs eyes for future negotiations, or back off and get slated publicly because our transfer committee can't seem to identify proper alternate targets that can be had. This is how we get bent over by Leicester for 80mil on an above average PL center back like Maguire, and this is how Dortmund can laugh at us we when come calling trying to get Sancho below valuation after making it known far and wide that we are interested for years. Dortmund know Ed wants the player not just for our team, but as a figure for the club commercially similar to Pogba, so they can name their price and just wait for us fans to put the pressure on.

Of course the Glazers are pleased with Woodward, he brings in profits and runs the financial side extremely well, which is the most important part from their point of view. They are the anti Abramovich, as they care only for financials and much less about club success past being in the CL and relevant in the PL for revenue streams.

yeah, Brighton would be mad selling him for any less than €40 million now, great player so far.

Don’t agree. Chelsea only buy youngsters to profit off them. They never have any intention of using Hudson-Odio. He got an England debut at a very young age, looked promising, Bayern wanted to sign him. Yet Chelsea go and sign a load of attackers to replace him? He’s not even been given a run of games to prove himself.

Cavani
Telles
Norwegian winger
VDB

Oh and Henderson back.

Would actually be a pretty positive & cheap window.

& with Smalling, Dalot, Pereira on their way. Any news on Rojo or Jones?

Most disappointed with us not getting Dias or Gabriel.

I wanted both before Maguire came in.

He's a clown from every point of view
