Optimistic about Everton - second season with Ancelotti and Allan+James will be good transfers for him.

Are they going to have a south american midfield of Allan, Bernard, and James? Fancy names.

So they don't want to buy a supposedly world class player with the funds they have.
I struggle to understand that rational unless there's an ulterior reason for it, for example, Thiago isn't the world class player people on here make him out to be?
Which funds they have? What are you missing?

Like who? Some already spent shitloads of money, others don’t have funds to spend
For instance, I doubt we'd have bought Thiago Silva as a stopgap if we knew he was available. I think multiple top PL teams would be interested. City are still after another CB, think we (Chelsea) would be interested.

Who knows, maybe he isn't "available" per se but if someone came in with £80m they'd sell and that's what you guys are planning to do.

Maybe he signed the contract to get a better deal, rather than through loyalty.
Also maybe RB wanted him to sign the deal to get rid of the release clause so they can get a better deal for him this window, not because they don't want to sell him?

RB wanted to extend because he would have been left with 1 year.
"
Leipzig conceded in June that they may have to sanction a sale, as they could not afford to let a prized asset run down the final 12 months of his contract.

Sporting director Oliver Mintzlaff told Bild: "'Upa' is an extremely important player for us and one of the most sought-after talents in Europe.

"And we can assure that we have a clear understanding with him and his agent he won't leave us on a free. We can't afford that as a club."

Any chance we could throw in another 40 million quid and get Van Der Sar as part of this deal?

Obviously I don't follow the day to day developments of the admin side of Ajax, but he seems to be doing a cracking job - whilst oozing class at every stage. Dearly wish he was running United's football operations.

Which is why I said it before that united need to place massive fees to get him to here. 60m Euro was his original release clause, it will need something beyond than 60m euro to get him this year.

Ollie Watkins replacement in the house - great replacement I think.

Watkins will be off for £30m towards the end of the window I reckon.

I cannot see this happening in a million years but would people take a window of Upamecano, Thiago, VDB & Dembele (loan with option to buy)

Maybe he has no interest in joining Chelsea like Sancho. Clubs don’t all bid for the same players, the deals are done beforehand with the player and then they formally bid. Though like you I doubt we’re after him this summer.

No because Upamecano will be overpriced after just signing a new contract. Dembele would mean no Sancho & he'd more than likely flop in the PL. We'd probably never get Sancho if we don't do it this window.

Nevertheless, Fred should not be sold before McT. It would be Depay/Lingard situation all over again.
I guess the rationale would be Scott is younger and can still improve. Coming from the academy, he might get more leeway anyway.

Dembele is on Barca's list of untouchables - he definitely won't be allowed to leave this summer. Upamecano's buyout clause was left to expire and he has since signed a new deal. Those two look impossible to do.

No way should we let Fred go. He's a good footballer and showed signs of fulfilling his promise last season. He still had to do it but it's worth giving him another season and he's definitely better than Mctominay.

And Messi
I actually think Sancho and Reguilón are attainable players in terms of actually wanting to come to us. Very unlikely this window, but maybe if we sell all of our dross and Ole agrees to have a smaller budget next window, maybe...wishful thinking, I know.

Fully agree. Prior to lockdown I had him as a contender for our player of the season. He was putting together a fair few strings of excellent performances back to back, in some of the big games too.

We are hardly buying him for peanuts. Infact im pretty sure weve given them what they asked for.
Yes but they seem more reasonable to negotiate with. They also haven't been whining/boasting to the media at every opportunity trying to milk their moment.

Chelsea are signing first steamers, players who will come in and immediately change their team. Ole said we need to keep the teams that finished below us below us but not at this rate. We just don't seem serious.
We're talking about signing players to give us squad depth which is great but the priority must be first teamers if we're serious about maintaining our position as a top 3 team.

Yes Dortmund seem like a very ominous club to deal with. if you act even slightly against what they want you better know dirty laundry will be aired. Lame really.

Our first team was better than theirs whereas their depth was better than ours.

Looks like done: £72m initially + 9m attainable addons + 9m for winning the Champions League in the next 5 years = £90m.

They've got a cracking player who has the potential to be the best attacking player in England in a few years' time.

They've bought five players in the window (among six recruits) who will be playing for the first-eleven in one or two months' time - Werner (definitely), Havertz (definitely), Silva (definitely), Ziyech (definitely), Chilwell (definitely). When was the last time that happened to a top team in recent times? Can't remember.

What is/was Upamecano's release clause? Everyone seems to have different ideas. I've seen both 45 and 60m in this or his own thread today.

Norwegian media is reporting that with the current contract his release clause is 60m now, but going down to 42m next summer. And that Ole would prefer to get him now.

As for why Chelsea wouldn't go for him over Silva on a stopgap? I know we all think FFP is dead, but they still gotta pretend to follow it, Silva was on a free, Upa would be another 60m outlay.

Can't we witness a Naby Keita type of deal?
We agree to pay the release clause that would come in next year (as far as my understanding) and he spends the season on loan at RB Leipzig.

At least Leverkusen aren't cnuts like a certain other German club.

Chelsea are being asked for the the exact same initial fee that Dortmund want for Sancho (80 mil euro). I just think the subsequent installments are a bit less and Leverkusen are not in the CL. Overall, not an entirely different situation. It's just that Chelsea are paying and we are not.
