Well actually if you followed Mupdate #114 in June 2019 posted by the mighty ITK Spoofex on Reddit, it has been blocked as they see Rojo as our new defensive midfield destroyer.

Rojo has the self control of a Tasmanian devil on cocaine. If there is a more disastrous place for him than center back, its defensive midfield.

Is there seriously something wrong with letting wasters leave on a free? So much dross we have extended have no value anyway so not like we're losing much.

This doesn't make any sense as we are able to trigger an extension on his current deal I believe.

Anyway we should let him leave we have too many CBs as it is already

When you've spent £26 million on the transfer in plus wages over four years or so, yes. A business will want to recoup some of that outlay.

From what I've read, the talks will be related to the extension not anything net new.

Yeah he joined in 2016 with the option to extend it for another 2 years.

Really not in favour of literally paying him to play for another club.

The original Glazer/Rojo to Everton story appeared In the Times. I wonder if that clown Castles has something to do with it

gotta think longer term. if he excels in italy, there's a good chance we will be able to get rid permanently. we have to take that opportunity now or else be stuck with him for the life of his contract.

The way I see it, we're currently paying full price for him to do feck all (yes I know he's injured but I still don't see him playing or performing much). This way we're only paying a portion of it, there's not much difference.

It's better than paying him to play for us

I’m just not in the mood for rival fans and the media to constantly shove it in our faces when he starts actually trying and looks like an actual footballer over there.

He won't, he's done. We're not going to care much when Greenwood becomes a better player than him anyway.

Hope there's truth in this, but fail to see why this couldn't have been sorted sooner. Likewise with Lukaku going so late in the window, it just feels like they're done now so there's no real pressure to replace them.

Instead of paying him £26M not to play for us, we will only be paying him £13M not to play for us. At the end of the season, they pay us the other half of his salary. Works for me.

What's the chance of him flopping at Inter & them not taking up the option? :nervous:
I reckon they're only biding their time and getting Sanchez as a stop-gap option till the next summer, when they will have other targets in sight.

Excessive use of smilies

This analogy is comedy gold:lol:

This is exactly what I think will happen. The cheapskates at Inter will return a a £300k p/w player one year older after using him for a season for half the wages.

We've got to hope he performs. If he flops we're stuck with him unfortunately. The thing is, if he flops at Inter he'd have flopped here as well and we'd have paid his full salary for the season. Either way we save 12M

I would hope it's an obligation to buy rather than an option.

Negotiations at >100 million €: free pass

Is Kai Havertz worth the same as Joao Felix? Is any teenager worth over 100 ME?! The biggest question for me with Havertz is whether he'll be able to handle the pressure of playing for a bigger team and with the weight of 100 million on him.

I would like to see how he does in the UCL this season before deciding on where to spend that much on him. It's not as if he's going anywhere, I'm sure his first preference will always be Bayern and he has already said he prefers to move next season.

I don't see any added risk of waiting an extra year.
