At first glance that list looks impressive. Although when you take a closer look at what they've bought for nearly £290m, I'm not so sure. What is still impressive though is that they are currently break-even (even after that splurge) and may still get another £85m from Barca for Griezmann.
£290m in nine players, thats just over £30m per player. I dont even know half of those players to be honest but what would you get in the premiership for £30m. Think Hermoso, Felix and Herrera on a free are all really good signings.
Of course whether they can all integrate straight into the side and of course replace some great players that have left the club (Godin being the biggest for me even if he is old) remains to be seen, be an interesting season for them.
Personally I look on at there dealings with a touch of frustration and jealousy, not at the players they have signed even though I think two are cracking signings. but more a case of all the talk I have seen on here is "You cant make 8/9 ins and outs in one window, it isnt possible or realistic" etc etc etc, yes you can, as they have shown.
It is exactly what we should have been doing. Pogba not happy, get a proper fee (£180m is ridiculous), Lukaku not happy, DeGea seemingly not happy, Darmian rubbish, Rojo not even playing, Herrera, Bailly, YOung, Jones, Sanchez......I mean in all honesty there could be 12-13 players but there is a good 8/9 we should have been getting shot of for different reasons in this window and so far its ONE player in Herrera, truly awful and utterly unruthless.
We could have raised over £350m to add to a warchest and made 6 big signings at least to add to Gomes, Greenwood and Tuanzabe yet I bet there arent more than 2 more players out which is criminal in itself and 3 max come in, only 3 of the signings in total will be big ones at the most. There is still time but I think in 6 months time we will still be talking about a bit of a shambles of a summer window bar Bissaka
