If Redcafe was in charge of our negotiations we'd cough up the "only an extra £10m" on every target and accept "£5m-£10m less because we don't want him in the squad" on every sale and by the end of each summer we'd be £80m worse off than what we should be.
Yeah, I wouldn't do it on all days BUT it looks like Ole doesn't want him and if it means Ed allows us to spend more on CHs and MFers (where we need it), I'm all for it on this occasion.

Please tell me you realise that Woodward isn't the one and only person who identifies targets, negotiates with both club and player and signs off all financial aspects of any deals?

It's like you lot think he's sitting there with his mobile, just making and receiving calls to wrap deals up, doing as and what he pleases.

How many players have you been involved in negotiating for? Just interested in your experience and expertise.

I think you're missing the point of my post. Poster responded to me that we are basically better off for not haggling over 5 million - 10 million on a player the manager wants or a player the manager doesnt want in the squad as if "redcafe posters" were in charge we would overspend by 100 million over the course of a few transfer windows. All i was doing was showing the opposite end of that , something that actually happenened last year, that sometimes that leaves hagling leaves us without the player the manager wanted because we wouldnt budge on 5 10 million and also we get stuck with players like darmian for another year and end up getting even smaller bids becuase we were holding out for 3 million euro more.

Cheers, thought it sounded too good be true! So a loan with a future fee of £0 agreed? Still a bit confused as to why the offer would be structured that way from Inter's perspective with it technically being called a loan rather than just doing a transfer and paying that over instalments but ok. I too would be holding out for more if £63m is all we'd see.
They want to pay a small amount now for the loan, with the rest coming in two years.

Dafuq is Aladdin form?

They've gone all out on the David Bowie references. He liked a tweet when someone suggested that as a song for him, from the tune of Starman, don't know if they actually sing it at Carrow Road.

Then they've mocked him up in the Ziggy Stardust face paint and A Lad in Form is borrowing from Bowie's album titled Alladin Sane.

Not that I got all that at first either, had to google it!

It shouldn't be this way but United need to follow Spurs example in being ruthless in getting rid of players before they become a liability, if trippier was at united the club would be holding onto him until he's 34 like we have with the likes of young, Valencia etc.. wish we would see sense to shift the likes of lingard and Matic on as their value is only going to drop further and further each passing transfer window.

There was a thread on twitter somewhere that said that the brinksmanship on this might be due to Sporting needing cash and hoping they’ll drop the price later on in the window. Not sure how accurate it is, but might explain why Woody may not be in a rush to push this through.
Fair enough but Ed would be risking him going somewhere else if that is the case. If they do indeed need cash, their probably just using us to drum up interest since everyone knows we need players. They probably read the Caf and see how many fans what him. Curious if Arsenal, City, Chelsea(not that it matters) and Liverpool fans rate him as high as most on the Caf do. Is he wanted anywhere else? I do not know.

Is there any way to filter the tweets I see to ones that directly involved United? Sick of coming on and seeing 30 new tweets and thinking oooo shits going down.... And seeing that said shit is going down, but at conference clubs.

To be fair, you should know by now that nothing unexpected involving United is going down.

It will be in the Maguire, Fernandes or Longstaff threads.

As well as continually spouting the absolutely idiotic, "it's not my money" twaddle, inexplicably refusing to realise that if you pay too much, or get too little in, then you WILL have less for the next signing.

But then they'll argue that there's this unlimited pot, despite the evidence of the last 20 years.

Hide Frigid C@nt or whatever his name is. That reduces them by about 90% immedo.

Anybody know anything about this player please? :)
There isn't much information about him as yet. All I know is that he's rated as a big talent in his age group and is a creative midfielder. Below is a vid of him playing in a futsal tournament for Lyon where he demonstrates his artistic abilities on the ball.

"He can be useful" shite i have heard is infuriating. People defended Mata and other tripe like anything this window

Thanks for sharing looks very good from the video mate :)

Completely agree. Apart from being a very good defender which we sorely miss and the right age he is a captain and that is something we should be looking to sign as we have no leader in our side at all, hence the awful last couple of captains we have had.

Forgetting fees which are irrelevant really to me, I think Maguire is a good signing, but I can think of at least ten that are excellent signings, we have already missed out on DeLigt, Hermoso looks like going to Ateltico, Kabak has gone to Schalke but still 6/7 top centre backs we should be moving for.
Think the young English signing of Bissaka was a great one. Not sure Maguire, Longstaff are at all though when there are so many better players in Europe we dont even seem to be getting linked to, which is weird as we have been linked with so many players this summer already

Agreed, he has all the qualities that we are crying out for in my opinion.

I think Maguire is a good signing too and will improve us but I think Romagnoli would be a fantastic addition. I do like the look of Longstaff I must admit and I hope we get him too, but while they would provide a good base for the season there will still be massive work to do next summer too to get the team back where it needs to be.

Are we supposed to believe that there is a tug of war between United and City? I'm not sure I believe City are really in for him. But it's a great narrative for Leicester.

City were in for him, but i think they wont make a higher bid. There were several reports stating they arent in the race anymore. So technically it is true what he said, that bid from City was weeks ago though.

Multiple sources confirmed that there were two bids, one form united and one from city. Why would Rogers lie about that ? If lcfc wanted to play with that to increase the price of the player, they would use the media. Rogers wouldn't risk lying about the offer.

Yeah but inflation has also made the transfer market rate two years older and fatter

Thats true but is there anybody daft enough to massively over pay for him like we did? He has got a few goals for us but I genuinely think its one of the worst signings we have ever made, paying that much money for somebody with such an utterly awful touch, even in todays market he really isnt worth anywhere near what we paid for him

They will come again next year and i hope we will ask for same amount ( if its 150-180mil ), next year think they will spit the money and get him. Pogba, fat cnut and Real overplayed a bit their cards this summer.
