Why is he considered one of the best french prospects. I can see it with Cherki. When I watched Mejbri (2-3 matches), he looked great on a technical level, but didn't put his stamp on the game. Then again, he is pretty small so as he gets older he could make a bigger jump in development.
I can only speak for myself but I see him as a pretty complete midfielder in the future. As you said he's very good on a technical level but also has great work rate off the ball and in recovery. His size is an issue right now but he'll fill out (as his frame is the issue not height) and you'll have a combination of a sizey midfielder with a great work rate and insane technical ability. I think comparing him to Cherki is a bit unfair as many see Cherki as the greatest French prospect ever.

@juventusfc advancing strong for #Deligt : continuous contacts with #Raiola to seek a definitive agreement on the engagement, there is also discussion of a termination clause. The negotiation is really alive and Juve is holding the cards to close.

Juventus pushing strong for De Ligt. Talks with Raiola ongoing, trying to reach an agreement on wages, option of a buyout clause also on the table. Juventus have the chance to close the deal

Really good decision by him. Sad for us, but his stock will go up there and Juve will sell him on to Barca or Real for a few hundred million in a couple of years.
Maybe they’ll sell him to us 5 years down the line if the situation here drastically improves?
One can hope :)

‘Precious time’ we haven’t even started pre-season so how have we lost precious time? Plus if Palace want £60m as an asking price no wonder we didn’t just accept it. £45m is more than fair for him.

Well it took us almost a month to sign a guy from the championship and we are dilly dallying for another one from freaking Palace. I think we have lost way too much time already.

I know the media like to portray everyone at United as incompetent but in all honesty I'm pretty sure they are negotiating more than one deal at a time. so I dont think it matters how long it takes to sign AWB.

I’m getting fed up that deals haven’t been done as well but let’s be honest James’ dad died during the negotiation period, AWB is playing in the under 21 tournament and all the other players we are linked with are on holiday. We need players but none of the big Premier League clubs have done any serious business either.

I want Ed out as much as the next guy but people will have a go at him no matter what he does.
And you don't see City getting stick for not signing Rodri yet despite his 'fee being aware of for months'. We're the only club who is getting stick for things like this. Chelsea have lost Sarri, Hazard, still have a transfer ban in place and their next manager hasn't been appointed yet and you don't really see any flak headed their way. Arsenal and Spurs haven't made any signings yet, seem to be hamstrung in terms of finances and they're not getting much criticism either.

To be fair our situation is different to that of city. We require a general overhaul of the team while city s squad just need minor tweeks

I know, but you still don't see any other team getting criticism for deals taking weeks. There must have been several occasions in this thread where people had praised City for getting Rodri done and criticising us for getting no transfers done, yet weeks later Rodri still isn't done and that is being ignored.

If De Ligt joins Juve there's no way They're getting Pogba.
Depends on the number of players they sell...
Cancelo is gone for a fee not very far away from that of DeLigt.
If they sign Rabiot on a free and Pogba they can afford to sell Pjanic and possibly another midfielder, from which they could be able to finance Pogba transfer.

VVD played in the Scottish league and the caf didn't want him from Celtic either

Difference was Celtic were doing it in the Champions League then beating the likes of Barcelona. Plus both him and Wanyama went to Southampton and proved they could do it in the league before moving to a bigger club.

Never understood this about Tierney, he plays in the Scottish League. Even Scott Sinclair looks top class in that league.

He's an exceptional player. Has leadership qualities. Great crosser and passer. Can tackle. If he's available for 50m or less you simply have to buy. As I said about De Ligt two seasons ago.

I don't mind players going to Italy, as long as they stay away from the French and Spanish leagues its all good with me.

Problem is that atm the left back position is probably the least one,we need to address urgently.
If our squad was in a better position....like that of city or Liverpool for example, Tiernay would be ideal.to put pressure on Shaw.

That's because all journalists agree the deal is done. You don't have anyone coming out saying City have been outbid or are only able to focus on one signing at a time. Or that City's best players are leaving and being replaced by nobodies.

Agreed it would be harsh on Shaw. But when you have a chance to get one of the best players you go for it. Especially if the alternative is he goes to a rival for the title next season.

Other teams don’t sell papers the way United does. I also happen to think we have a higher portion of entitled supporters than most other clubs

We cannot let another team get him. We should sell Shaw if it means getting Tierney.

You can't be serious:D. With the way this club is being run; offering contract extensions to Young, Jones, Smalling, Mata... Taking ages to sign needed players this summer and generally being notorious snails transfer-wise, don't you think that having the insight to bring in Tierney to replace Shaw would be near impossible?

I understand the frustration but neither of the top 6 have signed anyone (apart from chelsea signing pulisic last year but losing their best player. though the ban have affected that)

Exactly. Rodri has a release clause yet its taking ages. Real is the only team who got things done well until now.

Please can we not buy another Italian with shit facial hair. We'll be struggling to get rid of him for the next three seasons.

Seems a cracking deal for £15m-£20m
Will be more like £25M. £15M is a daft opening bid. Still decent but he's had injury problems this season just gone and I *think* he had an operation at the end of the season (or was said to be having one), so depends how he recovers from that.
