I think the Lukaku stuff is just posturing to get us to lower the price. Think we want to move him on and he knows it, so is threatening to stay to try and get us to soften our stance on the price. At least that's what i hope it is...
We need someone to take the reins from Woodward and get transfers over the line quickly. If Pogba goes which he should, we will need a complete midfield along with a revamp of our defence. I don't think Woodward can get these transfers in before deadline.
I really think Ole is happy to have Lukaku as a plan B. he doesn't fit the fast and flowing style that should be our default set up but he was effective off the bench and against PSG in our good run and I am sure ole appreciates a good impact sub.
If Woodward and his team can’t get them over the line it’s no doubt the Glazer’s financial constraints that are the issue. Changing out Woodward in that case won’t do jack shit.
We will be starting the youth team next season if transfers are left to Woodward to conduct.
The worst thing about this transfer window is the total lack of people posting gifs of kermit and co panicing.
It's beginning to look that way. Seasons gone by, the Wan-Bissaka and Fernandes deals would have been tied up ages ago if we were really in for them and on to the next. Now we're just hanging on to the deadwood, spending modest amounts on potential (which is not necessarily a bad thing) and struggling to get decent players over the line. To be fair though, we do seem to be penalised for being Manchester United.
But then again no other PL club has made a major signing yet either. So I'm guessing things will gather pace as usual at the end of the window.
There just hasn't been a muppet worthy transfer rumour.
