In all honesty I doubt many actually watch the players in this league either. Other than the odd game that isn't against their team and maybe match of the day. I know of just one lad who pretty much obsesses over football, watches multiple leagues and always seems to be talking about and watching at least something football related but even he won't pretend to know more about players than he actually does.
The online community is really guilty of this though and will generally be really vague about how much they've actually watched a player rather than come out and say 'I've seen them in about 10 full games in the last 3 years'.
Other people's comments have a huge influence on what people think and say. I see a lot of comments that I don't believe people came to on their own but rather they've watched a pundit say it or read someone else say it and so they repeat it. Then someone reads theirs and does the same, the pattern continues and before you know it a large amount of people will have an opinion about someone or something that has heavily come from what they've seen or heard others say, rather than what they have come to on their own.
It isn't a new thing though, people have been doing it for ages. Just look at things like certain witch trials and countless other things through history.
So many people have a real issue with saying 'I don't know' but anyway, I digress.
One poster on reddit said him and his mates knocked a guy out for saying he didn't know who he was. Sounds a right prat.

Someone saw someone they don't know post online about an incident that they have no knowledge of and that's enough to decide that someone else, who also they've never met, is a 'right prat' Then someone quotes that, laughs and probably goes on to repeat it and so on and so forth.
I'd never actually heard about this and so decided to do a 5 minute deep dive on the old Google. What this extensive research confirms is that there was an incident where a friend of Maddison's was found not guilty of gbh in under 2 hours, following an allegation of gbh. During this, it seems very much hear say and the defendant claimed that the guy was mocking Maddison due to him being loaned out to Aberdeen at the time, and then stood up aggressively which prompted him to hit him once in what he claimed to be self defence. The person who got punched made claims that he was bragging about how much he earns and the cost of his trainers.
No where suggests he was knocked out.
My take is 2 groups of drunken young lads have got into some sort of slanging match for whatever reason. Probabaly a bit boozed up as it was after a night out and one lad ended up getting a slap. Happens pretty much every night up and down the country.
It's also worth noting that this happened in 2016. So you're talking about 18/19 year olds acting like, well, 18/19 year olds. How many lads at that age don't act like a prat sometimes? Not that there's any evidence he even did.

That is true but I’m still worried with just 9 weeks until our window shuts. 9 weeks sounds a long time but for us not so much. The window opening earlier was of no real benefit, we basically just have three weeks less. Maybe I’m overly pessimistic but I have never had less faith in this club doing anything positive.
If Di Marzio says we’re signing somebody, the only things left to happen are for Craig Norwood to follow that person on twitter and the club to announce it.
