Oh yeah, maybe we had several options and he was the priority, so we waited until this one was impossible before moving to the others.

To me it seems like if Monaco made the CL we wouldn't have added another forward. Which would have been tragic.

I understand, but it said the forward line needed strengthening that season. If we were to wait on Martial for a year, would we not need a forward that season as well?
Once the deal for Martial was agreed, we sold Javier Hernandez. If we hadn't then I imagine we would have kept Hernandez for the 2015/16 season.

Van Gaal said this ahead of the 2015/16 season:
Our aim is to play with Rooney in the striker’s position. We have chosen him and Chicharito will be the substitute, but Rooney can also play in the no.10 position, so Chicharito has a chance to play in the striker’s position. Normally, though, Rooney will play because we have the confidence that he will score more than 20 goals there, which is more than the strikers did last year.

Thank God we signed Martial then because that would have been terrible.

This has to be wind up from the paper, you can't tell me the club wouldn't be able to get a better deal for Lukaku from a premier league side than what Inter are supposedly offering.

Who would take him from the Prem?

Who would be able to pay his wages and the fee we want?

What's the story on that?
Not sure...I think part of the salary or the "official part"is paid by the club and another" unofficial " part is paid through an offshore account from another party (club owners)
This is a theory of course.... :)

Real can have Pogba for 180m pounds, shouldn't be any less. Why on earth would we make it easy for them? When they want to keep a player they quote their extortionate release clause. They can feck off. Take 'em for every penny.
If we get 180 for Paul and we invest 120 over that I'm all with you.

If we get 180 and don't invest shit, I wouldn't do it, assuming that we can read the future.

It's what they did with Mancini, he was being paid £1.5m per season as manager of City but was also a consultant for a sports club in Abu Dhabi being paid another £1.75m per year.

You do know he scored 26 goals with Everton in the league before joining us. He didnt just turn shit in one night, he was very good for us last season. He just need another environment where he is the main man like in Everton and he will flourish again. He is just 26 years old.

I think we should just ban rumours about Inter signing our players, they won't pay the money and it's the same thing regurgitated over and over again.

What's the story on that?

Official quoted salary, and then extra paid on top behind the scenes (allegedly)

It may well explain why no City player is ever targeted by the big Spanish clubs.
Simply because they couldn't get near matching their wage.

It can't be as comedy in real life that they ask stupid fees for their lot, yet try and get ours on laughable low fees or loans.
It can't be surely?!

They are like dealing with the AI in Football Manager. Constant low balling bids in the hopes you just give them what they want. The Darmian and Lukaku rumours are going to go on all summer. They won't sign either of them, yet we will get two or three stories a week about their interest.

They remind me of my last trip to a carboot sale.

I was trying to sell some Subbuteo tat, and a couple of grown blokes were just so relentless in their low ball haggling, in the end I just told them to take them and piss off.
I wonder if we'll do the same with Darmian

didn't see this one?

The original Bild story said Boateng's price tag now is €20m, but he will only leave if "a top club" knocks on the door.
Bayern & Germany‏ @iMiaSanMia May 31
Jérôme Boateng will only leave if a top club knocks on the door. Bayern's asking price of €20m would probably no longer be matched by any club following Uli Hoeneß' latest statements. If Bayern doesn't let Boateng go for less, then a new conflict is inevitable [Bild]

Yeah, I've found the original article but there is no mention of United or Arsenal.

TransferNewsCen is another of those twitter accounts who post anything and everything (seen stuff from the Express on there), embellishing stuff by adding things that weren't in the actual article - like saying he's a target for United and Arsenal. They haven't even got the price right (€20M and NOT £20M)

Exactly. Imagine if it was roles reversed. Madrid would be demanding we pay £250 million for Pogba.

You'd think that was cheap for a player like Boateng, but then you remember its Bayern, they gave us Schweinsteiger and Hargreaves knowing they were past their best.

They're like rogue traders trying to flog a scrap car before the wheels actually fall off.

Any club paying anything over £1 for him will be in for a bad deal.

Qft

On a side note: how is Manchester s beer scene. Seems like just about any player going to Bayern loves it. Gotta be something in the water there..

>Trippier
>Boateng

I know it’s most likely bullshit reports/rumours but seppuku is starting to sound appealing
