Madrid finished with two more points than we did last year and their transfer targets have sunk from the cream of the crop to basically Hazard and projects. Expensive projects at that.
Is that enough to catch up? Even then its a fortune spent this summer and having players in key areas still need replaced. Hell their captain is demanding a move away for free.
Just because Madrid qualified through an easier league doesn't mean they're in a better place. Put them in England and they would be playing EL as well.

PSG blew their load on Neymar and Mbappé, and are still dealing with the aftereffects. Other than them, the only clubs to have spent huge money on individual players have been barcelona and liverpool, and both were aftershocks from the Neymar move. It's a sellers market, is what it is

That said, Florentino has backtracked on the size of our transfer budget and it begs the question of what exactly he's been doing with our money....

If the future is a player who turns up for a quarter of the season and can't be arsed the rest of the time, then we're fecked.

Fans want talented players who will actually try, it's what we've been brought up on, not some lackadaisical supposed star who, for some reason, some fans think the sun shines out of.
