Not sure if I’m allowed to post this here since it’s not directly related to a specific transfer so my apologies but just curious to know if anyone has more info about who these 9 players could be.
I hope to God this is true and we just get rid of all the deadwood once and for all.

Also you missed Sanchez. Apparently he’s already agreed personal terms with Inter. However United are demanding €15m transfer fee which they aren’t agreeing to as yet. My guess is it should be done around €10-12m mark.

My guess is this deal will be done soon since they’ll want him for the EL and can’t really delay negotiations. Which is why they’re acting swiftly and have already agreed personal terms with Sanchez.
Inter now have wealthy owners. I hope we stick to our asking price but seems tough. If we do somehow get the full €15m it’ll be thanks to the EL resuming soon.
Sanchez has become a vital starter for them since the lockdown so Inter can’t just walk away last minute and risk the Europa.

All the rumours have been that Pereira is not for sale - so pretty sure he's staying for squad depth.
So, they are so desperate to keep Sanchez that they are quibbling about a few million Euro, sounds like they aren't that fussed to me.
Yeah and he’d be the wisest choice to keep as backup. He’s young with room to improve with better players around him while also not on high wages.
You forgot Alexis, and you can add another Pereira to the list as well (we have two different Pereiras to dispose of).

Ole’s doing what SAF did by using players who came through the system as squad players, as they’re more likely to be comfortable taking on that role having been here since they were kids. Even when Ole gave pereira a new contract and he was starting games, Ole mentioned him as a good squad player to have.
Personally I prefer Lingard over Pereira, if only one of them has to stay. Given Pereira was not used at all in last one month, even when we had the chance to rotate, I hope Ole agrees.
It'll more than likely be a slower churn of players as they run down their contracts and are consequently easier to budge out of the club. At a guess, I'd say Rojo, Smalling, Sanchez would be the obvious ones to go as they seem to have a captive market for them (even if its a market of one in some cases). Dalot, Jones, Lingard maybe as well, as while they obviously aren't needed, they do seem to get some interest from other clubs.
Mata will be in his final year next year as well, so we should be seeing him either retire or be moved on, either this summer, or next. Matic will likely start being phased out over the course of next season as well. And depending on his progress, we could see Pereira leave next summer. Maybe Chong too, again dependent upon his progress.
I just hope that we no longer offer such players new contracts even though the writing has been on the wall for them for years. Players like Jones, for instance.
Half the squad is ‘deadwood‘ that should be dumped? Who do we get as replacements and at what cost. Between the PL, CL, cups, and our injury record we need a large backup squad of PL quality players, which all of our ‘deadwood‘ are.
I have had several arguments on here regarding players values and how ridiculously low people are suggesting we sell players and we should still be asking for reasonable fees. Sanchez is certainly the exception though.
The press seem to hint at a poor attitude at our club, despite his huge talent he has been absolutely awful for us but mainly, we are talking about getting £20m of wages off of our books next season. We are if making three signings for example, probably pretty much not adding anything to our wage bill at all next season if we offload him or the other way of looking at it as an example £5m Sanchez + £20m wages saved.....that pretty much pays the rumoured transfer fee for Gabriel.
Just in terms of economics we are able to have a £150m budget and sign four very good players if we can offload the right players for the right fees but I have no faith in our board to mofe on enough pllayers in one window nor the belief we want to do the number of deals this window in and out that we should be, same problem we have suffered for several seasons
Get the argument you are making here of still needing a big squad to compete over all competitions in waht will be a heavy schedule for many reasons next season.....BUT, we do have a very large squad.......three players on loan who wont be needed, another in a very promising keeper in Henderson.
Then we have several youngsters ready or close to ready to step up for squad places like Laird, Mengi, Mjebri who could replace players that have barely featured for a long time like Dalot, Jones, Perreira.
We could in my opinion anyway move on up to ten players, sign four and stil have a strong deep squad, especially if signing someone of the ilk of Grealish/VDB just as examples that are versatile and cover more than one position very well
I'd quickly get the Sanchez deal over the line. If Inter will pay 10m and it can be done tomorrow, just get this one done, get his wages off the books, and don't have to worry about the market collapsing on you. The list of teams willing to give him a salary for 3 years that he would accept is probably limited to Inter and China. Just take what there offering and add it to our budget. It also appears he isn't particularly well liked here or welcome back. Which isn't the case with most of our other deadwood.

I've said it before, I'll say it again; Inter are the absolute worst. They held us to 50mil for Perisic and they're not prepared to cough up a measly 15mil for Sanchez?
That said, we should really just take whatever they're prepared to pay to get those wages off our books.

Yeah, except it looks like we should be able to get £10-12m for Sanchez from Inter. Which we should absolutely make them pay after the Perisic and Lukaku negotiations.
On the plus side, £10m for Sanchez and £18m for Smalling is a good start as we look to bolster the money we have this summer.
If we were to sell one of De Gea or Henderson that would be another big chunk of change into the coffers.

Smalling - £18m (reported figure with Roma)
Sanchez - £10m (£350k wages gone)

Mata - £5m
TFM - £5m
Dalot - £15m

That would be £123m and I'd say reasonable prices. Probably, £1m a week in wages off the books as well.
I agree with all of you but my take on Sanchez is that we should hold out for €15m. They’re a wealthy club now and will pay up. As they rightly should. Sanchez has been their best player since the restart and Conte needs him even more now for Europa. Just the fact that they’ve already agreed personal terms with him indicates their commitment for him. We’re at an advantage where we can call him back after the loan ends and Inter won’t let that happen.
We as fans are obviously happy just by the sum we’ll save on his wages but our club obviously wants a return on the losses we made on him. We even subsidized a portion of his wages this year and we should deservedly get that back at least.

As you mention he’s on fecking enormous wages and has been out of “form” for 2 years now, another poor end to the season with glaring errors. I can’t think of any club who would be offering £40m for him with those wages let alone in the COVID market.
Maybe but if say Atletico sell Oblak for £80m then wouldn't £40m be fair? We'd know how much they got for him and could hold them to ransom. Alternatively, sell Henderson for a massive fee.
Also, he may not expect £350k a week if he was returning home. His wife never wanted to leave Madrid so maybe he says 'I earnt £18m this year as bonus on top of £200k a a week for the last 5 years. £50-60m in wages from Man Utd means I can take £150k a week at Atletico'.
You're right. De Gea, with the wages he's on, combined with the form he's in, is as close to an unsellable player as you're going to find right now, especially in the current market.
I'm always amazed that every season people will come out with 8 or 9 players we "MUST" sell, with guestimated prices of varying realism, but no suggestion at all of which clubs are going to take these players on.
Selling 8 or 9 players, let alone players in poor form, is rarely achievable in a normal market. To suggest we're going to find 8 or 9 buyers in the middle of a pandemic is nonsensical.

I think these players see those wages as a bonus and don’t necessarily expect to receive for the entire length of their contract. To me the vast majority of players will prioritise playing football and then maybe location than milking every penny in wages.

Yes they are if they were playing for bottom half teams but most of them have no business being in the team aspiring for bigger honours.
Lingard is older and on a much higher wage and barely any better. Surprisingly, there seems to be quite a lot of Prem teams interested in buying Lingard too so we might be able to get £20m for him. Neither should be playing many minutes for us regardless

Would sell them immediately. Maybe Dalot loan or sell with rebuy clause. But the rest is more or less useless.
