Doesn’t that work both ways? If we are being affected financially then sure Dortmund are too and they will also be in need of money due to lost revenue. I don’t think they can hold onto this demand of 120m. Not sure when all said and done the price will even cross 100m.

Simon Stone wasted 3 tweets without any inside knowledge whatsoever.

Surely the money we make from ticket sales is absolutely feck all to merchandise, sponsorship etc.?

Jonathan David confirms his next club: LOSC Lille (to replace Osimhen, most likely)

I want to join Lille. I've had a great season. My next step is in Ligue 1. Lille's project is great. They're a very good team.

It becomes a smaller amount of our income year by year.

Quite startling when someone posted the pie charts of income from different years a while back

They’ll end up selling him for 60m the subsequent summer too.

Some system they’ve got going there. Pepe for 72m; Oshimen for about 60m...

Well yeah, I’m guessing of course but read between the lines.

Simon Stone a week or two before our last three big transfers:

”Ole wants Wan-Bissaka”
”Ole wants Maguire”
”Ole wants bruno”

and now ”Ole wants Sancho”. Ole wants, Ole gets.
Exactly. The only thing that stands in the way of Ole not getting the player he wants is the player not wanting to come here - Haaland, Bellingham, Dyvala

£110m and we made a £24m operating profit in 18/19, i.e. Lose a season of it and we were looking at a £86m loss instead. Hugely important.

They are not going to say 'We'd like $120m but we'll settle for $90m, are they?!"
Again its just posture and a negotiating position from Dortmund.

People here keep saying that and fail to understand that this isn't just "posture and a negotiating position". Maybe it's the cultural difference but in Germany if you say you want price X then usually that's the real expectation and the same is mostly true in the transfermarket. That's why people were wrong about Dembele too where everyone also thought Dortmund's demands were just talk but they clearly stated their price from the beginning and got it in the end (see also Havertz/Leverkusen, Völler is not going down in his demands which is why we backed out).
There is also really no reason to accept just 90m. Dortmund will still be able to get a similar fee next year even with just one year left on Sancho's contract because that's still a decent price for one of the best wingers around who still has massive potential to further improve and I'm sure that more top clubs would be looking for an offensive upgrade next year.

Didn’t see Bayern paying £90m for Leroy Sane there.

They will get just about 90m this year. There is no way they are getting that much next year. They will gladly accept anything around that range this summer. Remember Covid has affected every club including the Madrid’s and the Barca’s. So it sure has hell has affected Dortmund too but obviously they don’t want to show that cause it puts them in a weaker position negotiation wise.

We didn't and he also didn't end up at our club so is that reply meant to support my point?
Besides that I made it clear that german clubs usally aren't into the game of asking for ridiculous prices as basis for further negotiation, something that is certainly not everywhere the case.

And I think you underestimate the transfermarket. It only takes one top club desperately needing a winger and it's hard to find something better/more promising than Sancho. Even at 90m he wouldn't be that much more expensive than a Pepe so let's not act like such a fee would really scare clubs but for the sake of the argument let's assume it ends up being "just" 70 or 80m then it's still a good decission for Dortmund to wait considering Sancho's low wages for a top player.
Sancho will look like a steal especially if he keeps up the numbers of the last two seasons. At that point there is not much difference to someone like Hazard (Sancho would have been even more consistent) who fetched an even higher fee at an advanced age with just a year of contract left.

I tend to agree with you, there are cultural differences but as often when two parties is involved it goes two ways. Watzke acts like a typical German cars salesman, nothing wrong with that but there is a huge difference between selling a car and a dealing with a human being. A car can’t complain if the price is wrong or the dealer has far too optimistic expectations. Nothing happens except if the salesman is too stubborn the car will not be sold until he find someone stupid enough to overpay or until he lower his demands.

Watzke is sometimes to smart for his own good.

It works to play hardball with those who understands the German cultural or have connections to the local society but it didn’t worked with Mino Raiola and Mhkitaryan. Cultural differences you know. Zlatans favorite agent had other thoughts about how to do business and when two giants (literally) clashes the one with the “most to lose will often back off. What they say in Japan? Saving face and uncertain territory.

I have no idea about Jadon Sancho but maybe his heart is already in his motherland. Inside his mind this transfer is a formality and his heart is already with his new “girlfriend”. Some have mention that young Sancho sometimes can be a little bit immature and “wild”. Imagine when he’s really pissed off.

Dortmund should take notice and don’t play with the fire. Pandemic is real and actually affects the economy. If they can get €90-100m including incentives then that’s a really good price under the circumstances. Not to mention a player who’s unhappy and don’t want to be there.
