I hope he stays. Maybe not the player who starts every match, but a great squad player and someone you can trust. I guess his good to have around the squad as well.

This is bad for Gomes in my opinion. Also if we're about playing this high pressing game Mata just isn't the right player

Why? Seems Sancho and Pepe aren't interested in joining us at this point so we have no replacement. Would leave us with Pogba/Lingard for 10 and Lingard/A youngster for RW. And that's if you see Pogba as a 10 when our midfield (6/8) is understaffed as well. Would rather keep him as a squad option for one more year than be over reliant on the likes of Greenwood and Chong. Don't forget Nicky Butt has been very vocal about how we shouldn't ruin more y9outh players by throwing them in the deep end

Not sure where the Pepe not interested is coming from, however they are not the only 2 RW in the market.

RW being the key position we have not rectified for about 6 years its imperative we get an upgrade this summer and no Mata isn't good enough to play there as we have seen already

Reading between the lines a bit but it looks like things aren't going to plan for us so far. Mata staying means no new RW, which means we'll still be piss poor in attack. Throw in Lukaku staying and it's the icing on the cake.

Considering we apparently didn't think we needed a new CB a few weeks ago, it's going to be interesting to see how we improve. I'm not stretching with this conclusion, but we'll still be crap next year.

As long he plays as a 10 not RW then agree.

Mata staying isn't an issue - he's low on the list of players to get rid of. Decent squad player and top professional.

Hopefully play him centrally when he does play though - ffs.

It looks like the only one's that could still leave are the one's that rarely featured ie. Rojo and Darmian. Even they aren't linked with anything so far.
Not even June

That’s basically settle our right winger for next season and also answer the question who is Sancho’s backup if we can’t land him. Can’t wait to see Martial Rashford Mata (MRM). :(

I just don’t get why are we giving an “improve” contract to someone aged like him, instead of moving on we put more deadwood. I thought ITK Reddit is reliable and had this guy on the list of selling.

Can't see any great benefit to keeping Mata. I say this as someone who really likes him. I just don't think we should keep someone on the kind of wages he'll be on when he'll probably start fewer than 15 games for us next season.

Being us I would say absolutely. Maybe if we resign Mata they will count him also!
Think the signing of Daniel James and renewal of Juan Mata is turning De Ligt's big head? When Barca are saying we brought Frenkie, we have Messi, we'll add Griezmann, etc...

I think Mata is staying because we can't land Sancho. He's clearly our #1 target and so spending 50-60 mill on Pepe (who IMO isn't that special) for him to be backup to Sancho next year doesn't make much sense (provided we improve and sign Sancho next year), so I guess that's why we are giving Mata an extension

I agree. Other than his exceptional attitude, work ethic, and charcter, we could definitely use him in games where we need more creativity up front rather than speed. Games where the opposition sits back. We haven't had many of them this season, as most teams fancy themselves against us, but this will hopefully change next season.

Mata's pretty shite these days, he can barely play a half and is only any use in the diamond, if we play him in 4-3-3 we might as well be playing with 10 men. It's desperate when we are keeping players that are past it it though, it speaks volumes about the shit show we are.

feck sake, when will we ever learn to get rid of players who are not good enough. Even city done it with their captain Kompany they knew he was past his best and let him go, had he played for us we would have kept giving him a new contract until he wanted to give it a day.

Mata staying.. Ffs.. Who will leave then? All that deadwood and we are renewing left right and center.

City don't have to get rid of 10+ players who aren't good enough. I'd take keeping Mata if it meant 7 or 8 players leave the squad and they are adequately replaced.

Then who? Which other RW's are on the market right now?

People keep saying this but Kompany wanted assurances on playing time and was attracted to becoming a manager .City haven't booted him out.

Quick attacking football the manager says. Then this... the guys needs to stop feeding us lies.

Pleased enough with Mata. He's going to be on cheaper wages than Martial _Co.and happy with a squad role. He tends to show a better attitude and I'd shift other deadweight ahead of him (Lingard).

Ziyech, Chiesa, Politano, Suso, Zaha, Thuavan, Beradi, Bernadeschi (long shot), Fraser, Douglas Costa

Also again there is still Pepe and I don't know where the he isn't interested idea comes from.

Also this is without me having done any scouting, I'm sure there are plenty of talented players who have potential that are out there

There are plenty of better options than Mata, we cannot go into the coming season without signing a RW and playing Mata there

That's all well and good but Sancho wants to see we've got our act sorted. Wait a year for him, fine, but the simple fact that we've waited won't convince him. If we're terrible again next year then you can write it off straight away. We have to go for it this summer, players are already wary about signing for us. Imagine we sack Ole this season, we'll be the biggest joke going. That is a possibility if we don't improve this team a lot.

I don't get the love for players that are not good enough, even as a squad option, mata is past it.
He has a 3 game purple patch every 20 games. People only seem to remember those games.

That transfer strategy would be ten times worse than overpaying for Fellaini sincerly hope it's not the case

Paratici is at Palazzo Parigi in Milan and is waiting for Pep

- Momblano

Pep came to Italy earlier this day because he will be on some events, like for example golf competition in brescia (where will be also juventus president agnelli). Momblano is journalist who first announce that allegri will leave juventus (the most reliable sources like di marzio, sky sport italia and goal italia claimed oposite that he will stay and sign new contract), and we will see is this story reliable.
