It's realism man. If you were a neutral player from a different country would you genuinely join United? We're a consistent upper mid table team at present since 2013. The aura has gone. If I was a say, French youngster, I would see United as nothing special. Being a supporter doesn't mean you have to be blind.
Yeah, I agree. I think anyone suggesting otherwise lives in magic land.

I still think we're attractive to young players due to the time we can offer them on the pitch, but very few players on the cusp of being megastars will be lining up to join us as things stand right now. Which is a shame, but we just need to adjust expectations of who we can attract, which seems to be a bit of a struggle for plenty on here.

No but I think that being a supporter means you'd kill for the chance to play for your club. We're not neutral posters from different countries, in the main.

State of some of our fan base.
Unbelievable. How anybody can side with that shitbag over their own club is beyond me. It's obvious that Utd aren't playing to his tune and he's throwing the toys out of the pram. The man is widely considered to be a parasite on the game and we are Utd. Kicking us when we're down is something I hope comes back to bite him in the ass down the line.

It's bullshit man. If you were a neutral player from a different country would you genuinely turn down the opportunity to join United, the most decorated club in England, one of the (if not the) highest paying employers in world football, with an incomprehensible global reach and level of global exposure, that play in one of the largest and most revered stadiums in the world in what's currently considered the best and most exciting league. It's one of the most frequently churned out shitbits on the current 'caf (that you'd have to be mad to want to play for Utd) and it's fecking tedious.

Pogba & Martial currently play for us, plus we’ve club legends Cantona and Evra. Yeah we’d mean nothing to a French youngster, apart from Mejbri, and Traore.
Then there’s the one of the biggest teams in Europe thing, who pay huge wages etc etc etc. yeah so no attraction....

Brilliant post. Sick of hearing that we are not attractive to join as if a smaller club who offers a lower contract is more attractive then us.

Utd are a very attractive proposition to kids from developing nations. I’ve been around West and East Africa and was in South Africa a few years ago.

To suggest that if you were a promising player you wouldn’t join Utd is ludicrous. There’s plenty of talent around the world and some of it will come our way.

Fake news, mods please delete

It's not fake news, it's real news.

Here's some choice quotes:

On Ibrahimovic:
"Zlatan has returned to have fun and to entertain the world. I couldn't let his last stage be Los Angeles. These six months will be like The Queen's last tour, a long tribute: it had to be done at a great stage like San Siro. We fought during all his transfers. If I was an idiot, I would think that it was me who decided his future teams. Instead now at 52 years of age, I realize that he makes all the decisions and then makes me believe that I was part of the decisions"

On Pogba
"Now his problem is Manchester United: it's a club operating outside reality, without a clear (sport) project. Today I wouldn't take anyone there anymore, they would ruin Maradona, Pelè and Maldini too. Paul needs a team and a football club like Juventus were those years ago."

On Donnarumma
"They should apologize for Donnarumma and say ;Mino, you were right'. I wanted to take him away because I didn't trust that Milan, just like I didn't trust Thohir's Inter, and tell me if I wasn't right. I may not be romantic and politically incorrect, but my aim is to max out the career of my players. I always ask myself: 'What would I do if he were my son'. Money is just the last step."

On commissions:
"My commission depends on the player's salary, and that's the same for everyone. I don't point a gun at anybody's head. Anyway, it's not money that motivates me, I was already a millionaire at the age of twenty, I could lie on a beach and live off my income. It's FIFA that, in order to hide its problems, only attacks the agents."

On De Ligt
"I brought De Ligt here, who was chased by everybody. Everybody. But De Ligt wants to be the best central defender in the world, so he says to me, "Mino, I have to go to the Harvard of Defense, the MIT of defense. That's why we chose Juve: to get a degree."

Why didn't Haaland come to Italy?
"Well, he's not a defender and he's not De Ligt, who's been captain of Holland for two years. Italians don't know how to value their talents, let alone those of others. I happen to meet Italian observers who cry out for a miracle if they see a strong 18-19 year old. So I say to him: 'Why do you want him, if you don't let him play?'"

On Moise Kean:
"I wouldn't have brought him to the Premier League if he didn't speak perfect English, because it's very rare for an Italian boy to adapt abroad: let's ask ourselves why Spain and France continue to export players and we Italians don't. But if I had left him at Juve they would have let him play him in third division. I have a stack of requests for him on my desk, but Everton has no intention of selling him nor him to leave".

The article I linked has quotes coming from his interview with Sky Sports with the actual report coming from Reuters, you know, a reputable international news organisation. Not some Italian newspaper.

Umm, not a silly cnut? I thought that much is obvious as I'm don't believe that tweet?

So you think that all Italian media is rubbish? Even though these do seem to be genuine Raiola quotes he gave to the outlet? I'm not going to stoop to your level of name calling but you might want to revisit your original statements to the quotes.

Hwang Hee-Chan's from Salzburg has done better than Haaland in the CL if you use Whoscored stats. 3 goals and 3 assist with a 7.69 rating.
It's irritating that wolves seems to pick him up for around £25mil. A top player that can play as nr 9, nr 10 and also start on the bench without complaining.
We need to find more Daniel James players and be realistic. We have a good team as long as everyone is fit, main problem is we don't have backup and miss a proper nr 10.
Hwang is a player I really hope we sign. He has fantastic potential and can be a new Son and it’s a realistic player that could be sign in January. Or we can wait and see him dominate for Wolves :(

If Chelsea spend £80m on Zaha, United get 25% of that. It would be glorious if they indirectly help us pay for Sancho.

Was reports we dropped that sell on or perhaps the buyback on Zaha in the AWB deal but I can’t find any confirmation on it.

The reports were saying Palace tried to get the clause removed but United didn't compromise on the clause.

They'd have paid over 50M each for Pulisic and Zaha within a year. If they're after Zaha, they're not going to go for Sancho too.
Some reports in the media suggest Chelsea don't want to pay 100 million for Sancho

Nah, was rumoured initially but when the deal went through our journalists said the clause remains.

Yeah, I can see them trying to offer, say, Batshuayi and 50Mish for Zaha instead.

Can’t @Damien @Sultan @jojojo @Solius make a separate thread for non top flight tweets from around the UK and Europe? This way he’ll get to post his tweets without it honestly ruining the main transfer tweets thread.
No. We had this debate last window and final decision was this:
what tweets can we post?
ALL English league tweets. No non-league tweets.
Major European top leagues only for Spanish, Italian, French, German, Dutch
Do not post tweets from outside of these boundaries

He’s going to ruin another transfer window, when someone is clearly on a wind up, I don’t get why mods can’t use their discretion to thread ban them.

Don't worry, Woodward will ruin the transfer window for us:angel:
