But what about Rodri? Pep doesn't want him anymore? This kid looks much more incisive than Rodri but I don't know if he's ready right now.

Anyway, I hope we are all over his team mates, Felix and Ferro.

I like richarlison but Everton would want an extortionate fee.

Would exemplify our transfer strategy. Players like Richarlison and Docoure can be plucked during their breakout seasons, instead we wait until their fees rise to extortionate amounts.

Richarlison is class. Wouldn't look out of place at Barca. Raw but has so much going for him. A much better big club fit than Lukaku is, was, and ever will be.

Richarlison scored 5 PL goals in his first season in England, he was a high risk investment at £50m last summer

I read multiple reports that he did not want Silva sacked, and his sacking affected him greatly because he was the reason he moved to the PL. He tweeted out that he was not happy with the sacking (now deleted), also said that Marco Silva was the least of their problems when he was at Watford. Lo and behold he got 10 goals and assists under Silva and did not register a single goal or assist after his sacking. Many people spotted his talent and thought he could be a very good player.

Mata's been linked with Atletico, apparently.

No doubt he was a talented player back then but he was by no means a guarantee success, particularly at £50m

Just take a quick look at people thought about him on here

Richarlison has been dropped for Calvert -Lewin on numerous occasions. Let that sink in.

Icardi only makes even tiniest bit of sense if we make a major improvement in the creativity department, even then i’d still rather not.

I agree, I would take almost anybody over Lukaku to be honest and Icardi is a great finisher, but kind of pointless if he isnt getting chances to finish and doesnt add a huge amount more outside of that

Richarlison is exactly the sort of player we should be buying! Determined, skilful and got bags of potential that could/ should develop further! Problem is nowadays that clubs like Everton don't need the cash and can charge unrealistic fees to put off potential suitors

Also most importantly we don't have to touch our transfer funds. We ship out a player who is not happy / isn't fancied by the manager and take a punt on a proven goalscorer. Its still a punt but not as risky as the Sanchez swap turned out to be.

And its not Lukaku bashing, he's a good player in certain set ups but I think his touch lets him down for how Ole intends to eventually play. He was benched for the key games this month when the other strikers couldn't buy a goal in open play so I really don't see him having a future here.

If there is anybody prepared to pay around £70m for Lukaku I would much rather spend that fee than take Icardi though.

Times have changed. Shouldn't just sign best talent in the British Isles as they are not good enough. You think that's Manchester City's or Liverpool's strategy. We need quality players no matter where they are from. Also, before you say I am against signing those players, I think Jadon Sancho would be a good signing. Whereas Declan Rice wouldn't. So sick of people thinking we should sign the best players from the British Isles cos it was our tradition.

I do think its important to have a smattering of English or homegrown talent in our side, which we already do have. I'm more for the fact we should be signing some of them as at this moment we have some of the very best in there age group around Europe.
Individually of course its opinion, but there are three or four including those you mention that I think would all be really good signings not that they would all be my first choices.

I dont care what people thought about him on the caf. My point was about our transfer strategy, picking the promising talents from the small clubs and taking a risk with them. The only ones that fill that criteria are Shaw and Schneiderlin, 2 times in 6 years. Its madness to sign players based on them being a guaranteed success, thats how you piss money down the drain because you go for big names. Good scouting of the league that allows you to take educated risks, that's what we have sorely missed in my opinion.

Docoure
Richarlison
Rice
Wan Bissaka
Ake
Brooks
Jota
Ndidi

Not not all of these players will be a success, but transfers are never 100% successful. You take risks in the market for future reward.

Richarlison is a talent. Wasn’t impressed at first at Watford, but I see that South American striking talent who could score a lot of goals and never stops running.

I remember reading due to SOuth American timetable he didnt have a rest for over a year. Started off really well at Watford, think tiredness had a lot to do with his loss of form. I think he is a good player too, but Eevrton paid a lot of money for him, personally with the expected fees not sure he is the best option....plus he has the permanent Martial like scowl on his face.

We're back to the days of 'Sign that player because he scored against us.'
