They're a FC and we're a PLC.

They will do everything necessary to get back to the top in one season..

while the glazers will not care about trophies and just want top four. Glazers I think are the main problem.

Think he would tear it up at Utd,however not a chance that City would ever let him join us

He'd be a perfect winger and has United DNA written all over him :D, we had a lot of great legend winger like Giggs, Best, etc. It's shame he's at City but if he was at Juve, Madrid club, Barcelona or Bayern, we probably could have a chance if he wanted to leave.

If true, then this is an example to Woodward about what the biggest club in the world can do. We need a similar summer and similar amount, but sadly he's just talk and very little substance.

Perhaps you should wait until the actual window and see what both clubs spend?

What is this so called "superstar strategy era" supposedly ? Where are those superstars? Pogba, yes. I don't recall others. Well, I hope we get good players.

Sanchez, Di Maria, Schweinsteiger, Ibra, Falcao and the laughable attempts at Fabregas/Bale spring to mind.

Maguire, Rice, wan-bissaka and sending well wishes to Sancho it is then.

I think the smart thing to do is go cheap on the defense like with Alderweireld and Focus on other more important areas such as RB,CM and RW. That should we enough to get us top 4 and from there rebuild again. Throwing money at the situation like we always do isn't going to work.

Maguire is not bang average he’s won more than Sancho and AWB combined.

We would be lucky to have him atm, he would be our best CB by far.

There was a time when Luke Chadwick had won more than Steven Gerrard, at no point did that make him a better player

We would not be 'lucky' to have Maguire at all because at the risk of repeating myself, he's bang average

 and I'm sorry but what exactly has he won? A play off final? Winning competitions that other don't even play in... well done to him. Sancho has a chance to win a major championship this season, your comment is a bit out there.

He is no better than Smalling or Lindelof at defending.

Couldn't agree more, he was flavour of the month during the World Cup, but he is extremely average. No better than what we already have and would cost a small fortune.
The same could be said with Eric Dier when some people were clambering to sign him because the media linked us with him. Although, like with Maguire, most could see he was nowhere near the standard of what we needed.
I feel the same way about Declan Rice, a very committed player but very limited on the ball. Again, don't think he is anywhere near the quality needed. And the issues I have with him aren't something that can be explained away by his age, he just doesn't have the natural ability of a top class midfielder. He can tackle though, and is a big unit, and that's enough for some people.

I'm with you on that 100%

Don't see all the love for Maguire. He is not better than what we have.

I always ask myself, who do we want to be as good as? Barcelona? City? Liverpool?
Then ask yourself, would xyz player get into their side? If the answer is 'heeelllll no' as is the case for Maguire, then why on earth would we go for him?

Rodri: 35M
Sancho: 60M
De Ligt: 70M
Alderweireld: 25M
Saul: 50M

240M spent

Rojo: 25M
Jones: 40M
Sanchez: 15M
Herrera: Free

80M received

Net spend: 160M

Get it done woody!

That’s just unrealistic that I don’t know if you’ve posted it as a joke

No way in hell we will get £40M for Jones nor will we get Sancho, Rodri & Saul for a combined fee of less than £150M.

Initially i was completely against Rice and AWB given their clear limitations in technique, or passing & dribbling ability in tight spaces. However, if it meant Sancho ahead of AWB on the right, or Rice shielding Pogba & another attacking midfielder like Fernandes, it seems like a good balance of attack n defence. It really boils down to tactics and playing styles which Ole wants, and more importantly to create 2 quality players competiting for every position.

In my opinion, a lot of people on here are underrating this new crop of English players, purely due to the traditional train of thought which dictates that English players are often overpaid, overrated and overhyped.

Whilst it may have been accurate to say that about English players in the recent past, I really do think the youngsters coming through the ranks now are special, and the club is right to be looking at these types of players.

I agree and think if some of them were playing abroad we would be raving about them like Sancho. Alexander Arnold, Joe Gomez, Bissaka, Chilwell, Sessegnon, Foden, Odoi, Rice, Cook, Grealish, Redmond, Gibbs-White, Angel Gomes, Greenwood just a few of the sheer numbers capable of playing for big sides.

No guarantees with youngsters as Loftus Cheek, Will Hughes, Barkley just a few names that have taken quite some time to break through and not to the levels expected so far.

I think Bissaka, Rice and Sancho would all be excellent signings if we made them, Rice is probably the only one that wouldnt be my first choice.

I wouldn't mind us prioritising British talent if we had a dearth of it but we've got loads of talented British lads in our system already just waiting to be given a chance. Rashford and McTominay are already with the first team, Henderson and Tuanzebe who are around their age are both out on loan and highly thought of. Within our U23s and U18s we have O'Connor, Laird, Garner, Gomes, Greenwood and to a lesser extent Williams and Levitt, all waiting for proper opportunities.

You don't remember sanchez, di maria, falcao, ibra or schweiny?

All superstars. Just not by the time we got them!!

It's not so cut and dried as having x amount of defensive players to offset x amount of attacking players. As you said, Rice and AWB are not great in possession, and since we often struggle to move the ball out of deeper areas I really think we should avoid such players.

Maguire is not average. He’s a very good defender and a realistic target. You’re not getting Koulibaly or Varane. And Jones Rojo Smalling Bailly are bang average and why United are where we are right now. Miles behind.

I disagree that Smalling and Lindelof are better than Maguire, either way we’ll win nothing with them. AWB will definitely not make us contenders either. Sancho would be a huge risk for the money Dortmund want and he was a zero against Spurs when it counted in the Champions League which is not a good look.

I have to agree with him, Maguire is hardly £50m or what ever price Leicester would ask for him, better than what we already have, think he is nowhere near the level needed to compete at the top level again. Massively over rated, and over priced. Just my opinion, but think it would be madness to splash out on him. Not going to improve us drastically at all.
