The problem is it'll be one more player to replace on top of the 5 we already need.

My biggest worry is the forward situation, the rest of the positions I can see us getting some good buys in, but my concern is we are just going to buy a RW and either expect Rashford to develop hold-up play he doesn't have, or we are going to be a purely counter attack side which only really works against the better teams who are happy to have possession, it's going to see us continue our struggles with teams that cede possession, which is over half the teams in the league.

Trust in both Rashford and Martial will be a growing theme next year. Even adding Sancho would still leave us with maybe the 5th best attack in the league.

This is why I'm not on the Sancho train, I think waiting one more season for him and getting in a top, seasoned forward in this summer makes more sense, someone that can be the main man like Sanchez was meant to be and take some of the pressure off Martial and Rashford, giving them the room to develop.

I don't think we're in a position where we can wait for one more season to get him, if he replicates these numbers, or even improves, then there will be many clubs in for him. At the moment it's a bit of a risk, but it's a calculated one as he's dominated every age category he's played in up to his move to Dortmund, and has since done very well.
 
If we sell Pogba I would expect them to «overpay». If so, it might make sense for us to do the same and try to get Ruben Neves. Not as a replacement for Pogba of course, but to solve a position for years.

Probably not worth what Wolves would want, but would be a lot more ready solution than Rice. We would probably not find a «Pogba-replacement», but if manage to improve the entire midfield we could solve it in a good way. But we would be very vulnerable and should try to bring in «a sure thing». In my opinion, the only somewhat realistic target that fits that bill is Neves. But there appear to be quite a few options as replacement for Pogba and Herrera; B. Fernandes/Havertz/Aouar and Barella/Ndombele/Pellegrini/Tielsman/Milenkovic-Savic.

Hopefully Pogbas fee (and salary) could cover two of these players. Because if we lose him, we would probably be even more reliant on bringing in more flair and creativity in attack.

I'd agree if we were a more attractive proposition for players, but we don't have the luxury of waiting at the moment. If Sancho has a repeat season, or is even better, the task will be even harder than it already is to get him.

I think we can wait, he's a good young talent but is getting the usual overblown media treatment that English players always get. He's a pretty smart young man from the interviews I've seen so it wouldn't surprise me if he realizes as well that now is not the time to come to United.

Dortmund don't want or need to sell, on top of that if Sancho is as smart as he seems he knows that once we drop £100M on him he's pretty much coming in as the saviour, which is utterly moronic for a teenager, the move right now makes no sense for us or him, if we are where he wants to come then that door will still be open next summer, if we haven't made ourselves a more attractive proposition by then that means we've failed in totality this summer. Bringing in Sancho now is setting him up to fail IMO, and offers nothing to help Martial and Rashford grow as we'd still be lagging well behind 4 of the top 6 sides in the PL when it comes to the forward line, those 2 young players need what Cantona was to our young players back in the day, or dare I say it, what Suarez was to Sterling and Sturridge in that Liverpool team.

Yeah, it's always a good idea not to back the manager after just extending his contract with a stipulation by which you can't sack him without paying him an extra £24m. Woodward is always playing three-dimensional chess.

Dybala, Griezmann, even a player like Eriksen or Fekir might be able to do it, it's not nessicarily a 30 goal player I'm talking about, it's someone that can knit the attack together and be it's focal point for the other 2 to play off, quite often our attack fails due to the final ball more so than the finishing, or attacks break down because the ball doesn't stick to either of our #9 options.

Well I was talking about all the shite players Jose apparently wanted that would have been a nightmare to try and shift when he predictably went off the rails.

Sure, but they haven't let that balls up prevent them getting de Jong and moving now for de Ligt and Griezmann, where you feel our mistakes like Sanchez and Lukaku might well hamper us if we can't get rid of them.

Griezzy was the player we needed in place ofSanchez for sure. Someone to take the spotlight away from Rashford and Martial so to speak so that they can still develop. They don’t seem self aware enough to realize they’re not nearly as good as they act, and that they’re not getting foul calls in the same way Hazard and others do, because they aren’t near that ability level.

Agreed, and their mentality is being facilitated by the fact they are being positioned as the 2 main forwards in the team, when neither are good enough yet to be that, they need someone in there with them to be the boss, it's a shame we couldn't have gotten a 30 year old Zlatan instead of a 35 year old Zlatan.

It certainly bit us on the bum. I think that is why it took so long to sack him, not just the ridiculous compensation but Ed's pride as well.

Are any of the clubs outside of England allowed to buy PL players after August 8? I know it was possible last year but I think the rules will be revised?

That's a pretty short window, for the amount of business we're looking at doing it's imperative we get at least 1 or 2 wrapped up before the window opens.

So it's open for a shorter time this year. No time to feck around then. They must be quick.
 
So many negative comments regarding our players it's ridiculous..
I've been a supporter for over 35 years and despite how badly we played at times or how bad things were in Sir Alex's early reign, we also stayed positive... We always believed... Yes he had his detractors in the fan base and the team too for a short time but ultimately we pretty much held our heads up until recent times in which social media has given clout to the fearful moreso than the optimist.

I truly hope we have more fans who understand that part or our history also includes adversity... Some posters on here seem a little young to appreciate it and I see and hear pessimism more predominantly than positivity... Especially on this forum.

I appreciate everyone's opinion counts and this is just mine,but I fear we are part of the negative cog surrounding our club at times, especially seeing as the media also use forums like this to further their own agenda whether god or bad.

Support the team the club and manager.... Not at all costs but more predominantly... I'm sure people have the ability to write cohesive and positive things if they really put their minds ( not knee jerk reactions which can be used against us by media as gospel when the opposite is more likely true).

Pogba stays . We win Champions League.. Win league next season. How about that?
