That confirms it, we were not in for Fabinho at all. We got Matic last season which ended our interest in him. He had to choose between Atletico and Liverpool and Liverpool paid more money.

It really is that simple. I dont expect the media to make this point though.

Fabinho had two choices to join between Atletico Madrid and Liverpool. I'm so disappointed they didn't put "Trophies or money?"

Fabinho, Lemar, Fekir, Allison, seems like Klopp and Liverpool playing football manager.

Bloody hell, just logged on to 15 new tweets - Liverpool interested in Fabinho, Liverpool set to prepare bid, Liverpool sign Fabinho.

Not like our summer long sagas!
To be fair, the players we try to sign like Pogba, Lukaku, Sanchez are very sought after by other clubs and the parent club is reluctant to let them go. If we wanted to get Fabinho it would have been quick too.

 the cafe in meltdown over Fabinho and we werent even in for him.

Don't think Mourinho really wanted him - if he did, Mou would have done the deal with Mendes and Deco who are his agents.

I personally rate the guy - the manager doesn't - end of story.

What is it with Real and re-signing players. That would be a good window for Madrid, real competition at RB for Carvajal, Gimenez is a top quality centre half (can’t see Atletico fans being happy at losing another defender to Real), Alisson is a fine keeper and they need backup for Benzema
I like a lot Giménez, but I don't know if they will dare to pay the clause. In theory they can do it but normally the club of origin is notified so that they agree. They did it with Theo but probably was an exception.
The return of Mariano does not make much sense , I think Madrid don't have buy back clause and besides now he is doing well in France, shouldn't return
Weird that their Plan B is a different kind of player in a different position to their Plan A. I'd say they need an Eriksen more than a Griezmann though.
It seems that Griezmann has doubts, but for what is said they have a pre-agreement with a fine if he breaks it.
I still think that they are going to sell Dembelé, or at least they would not mind if the offer is good enough

I believe most people here would have been underwhelmed if we had signed Fabinho, since we have more pressing issues but because he’s signed for a direct rival people start to feel insecure. If we adress our own definciancies then we will be fine and his position isn’t one of them. Hopefully we will secure a couple of really good full backs as this is the area where we struggled the most last year in terms of proper service and support from the flanks.

I pray for our WAGs - lately with the talk of Terry coming and the years of a certain No 11!

(Edit - just to qualify the Terry thing - there was a panic in the Jose no2 thread that it could be Terry)

That doesn’t seem that bad a deal. Higuain will replace the goals.

It's awful deal. It's about sending message that they can pick Inter's best player, it's like us picking Liverpool's best player and the rivalry and hatred is even more with all the match fixing saga.

That's so rubbish, every times we linked with players for high wage, they all exaggerating fees, like they did with Sanchez. we never saw them doing it with Liverpool, City or even Chelsea.

Another one :nono:

So are journalists doing that thing they do with United transfers and adding his wages, bonuses and image rights into the equation as well?

I actually liked the look of Fabinho the season before last. But I am entirely unsure how he did last year for Monaco. Atletico targetting him always makes me think that he's definitely a very good player, but if Jose doesn't think he's the right profile of a player we want (Considering how many times we've been linked with him over the last two seasons), then I genuinely trust that deicison.

In the top left corner you have Klopp signs Fabinho for £44M!! No agent fees added on top, no wages added on top etc.

In big, right in the middle you have everything exaggerated and factored in when Manchester United is involved. Make no mistake, the papers know what sells.

There's no comparison. United sells far more than Liverpool does. Plus, obviously Bale is miles more relevant than Fabinho too.

Of course. Just beware not to construct things and facts just to suit your agenda.

Were you gutted seeing him lose the final?
No agenda here, just recognise when things aren't going so well, considering the money in comparison both have spent, then I know who is doing the better job, whether we like it or not. On the result, my son & I were dancing around the room like madmen when Bale scored that overhead kick. Trying to be objective about the manages situation full stop.
