100m+Varane and I'd wouldn't blink an eye for Pogba leaving. That way we bring in the needed quality CB, and we can focus on strengthening the midfield, RB and RW. Full Arry Redknapp mode, but it would be the ideal scenario if we are to lose Pogba.
Even with Pogba, we need to strengthen our midfield. With 100m there is no guarantee we solve that issue as we now increased the number of problems in midfield. It's not worth it and once again it makes us look bad. Once again we look like Real Madrid is a step up from United. United need to change that perception.

Why do we insist on being Madrid's feeder club? You never see City players pulling this shite. Beckham, van Nistelrooy, Heinze, Ronaldo, De Gea and now Pogba.

Getting 100 million for Pogba in no way means we'll get that full amount to invest into the squad. Real is a step up, look at what they've won and the lifestyle Madrid offers...

Which is why I'm saying United need to change that perception. You can't just give Madrid whatever they want when they want it.

They increase players wages and extend contracts so it doesn't become and issue. Id hardly say selling a club what 3 players over the last 30 years qualifies as being a feeder .

If we get a deal like that we should bite their hands off. Varane is a world class CB in a good age and we need one badly, that kind of deal is very unlikely imo, but would be ideal for us if Pogba is pushing for a move away. We don't look at Madrid as a step up but players obviously do, we won't change that by forcing anyone to stay. We can work on improving the team and use those who want to be here. Getting a player like Varane who would fill a gap in the team and in addition a sum like 100m it would be ideal but very unrealistic.

Because City (and liverpool) is competing for the titles. Whilst we remain a top 4 team we have to deal with speculation of our best players moving.

If we gave them what they wanted, how did we retain Rio, Vidic, Keane, Scholes, Giggs and numerous other players, whilst selling them 2 players who needed to go and 1 who wanted to go over the last few decades? You'd think we were Southampton to Liverpool the way people are going on.
Madrid is something a lot of players aspire to live and work in. Manchester will never have the climate to match it, it's the package, not just club v club.

So Madrid's public mouthpiece publishes an article saying Pogba wants to move and people start planning for the possibility or else start hysterically being afraid of the Madrid Boogeyman, even though we've only ever sold them one player we didn't want to. The saddest thing is it's not even April yet.:nervous:

This is being reported by the trinity of shite (mirror, Sun, Star)

It’s Zaha by the way to save clicking

According to the chairman of Pachuca, Manchester United has been particularly fond of Hirving Lozano for years.

Even if we signed all of Koulibaly/Varane, Wan Bissaka and Sancho we'd still have gone backwards if we lose Pogba and Herrera imo (without replacing them). 2 very important midfield positions and Pogba's talent can't actually be replaced, not to mention Matic is getting older.

Don't need to enter a debate but I'd be very surprised if Pogba is not playing here on the first of September. We'd rightly be asking for a world record transfer if he tries to force his way and I don't think he will.

I’m fine with it. Only Ronaldo was in his prime.
DDG and Pogba haven’t gone anywhere.

Woodward, for all his faults, is very belligerent when it comes to keeping players he sees as the foundation of the team - look at Martial, De Gea as two big examples of players who looked to be 75% on the way out only for them to stay and sign fat new contracts (De Gea in 2015).

Pogba is very much of that ilk, so I can eventually see him signing one more contract and probably leaving in a couple of years time, or maybe leave next year if we don't progress from here.

Pogba isn't going anywhere. This is a mix of both him wanting a huge salary because of fecking Alexis and Madrid being in rebuild mode so the paper linking them to every world class talent.

Madrid can't afford Hazard and Pogba in the one window considering them need to sign about 5 players.

What a ridiculous post this.

Let alone from the fact that DDG didn't move. Out of that list only Ronaldo was the one who we wanted to keep. Rest were surplus to our needs.

we pushed out Beckham and RvN. Heinze wanted to go to Liverpool so we just dumped him somewhere else. De Gea is still United's keeper.

only player they bought that we didn't want to sell or actively pushed out was Ronaldo.

There's even an argument we were under financial pressure to sell Ronaldo.

If you look at the history of these transfers, Ronaldo was the only player we didn't want to leave that actually ended up doing so!

It’s life. The football food chain. Same way we can take players from clubs below us in that food chain. If you want to leave United, there are very few places you can go that are above. For some, Madrid is that place.

Real will always want our players as we generally have some of the best and most marketable players in world football, same historically can't be said about players who play for Chelsea and City (in the marketable sense)

Madrid
Barca
--------
Everyone else.

Indeed. I said before but I believe Ronaldo outgrew Manchester United. That’s very hard to do, but there is a very thin layer of cream right at the very top of the game where, there will always be an expectation that they end up at Real or Barca. Ronaldo’s performances put him in that thin layer.

Strange how these 'we need the money' stories are developing.

In todays market Pogba would cost them upwards of £150m, they aren't paying that.

It appears we're really not going to spend much money. Solskjaer talking about spending sensibly, we're clearly struggling to tie existing players down to new contracts, it's all a bit worrying.

I think, the closest thing you can get to a 'sensible overhaul' is something like this:

Wan Bissaka
Alderweireld
Declan Rice
A right winger (admittedly I haven't get a fecking clue on this one)

It's still a fair bit of money, but it's the least we can get away with.

Complete.nonsense.
does Pogba look uncomfortable to any of you? this is the easiest story in the world to write after his Madrid comments, even then he kept saying how happy he was at United.
at least the Ajax result and league form are forgotten about..can't be a coincidence.

Hope no one is stupid enough to even entertain any of that Marca shite. One they are a Madrid mouthpiece and two they have a history f talking shit about us and trying to make us look like mugs. Although, they do that to other clubs too. Definition of entitlement.

Pogba said he wants to play under Ole. Worst case he will stay one more year and he will only look to leave if we are still rubbish. It is fairly obvious.

If we get good Pogba will stay. By next season he will be 27 and wanting to compete for trophies at club level will be on his mind. Same as it must be for De Gea.

I think Pogba and Raoila will be happy with either a move to real or using that to get a new contract. I really doubt we will sell for less than 200m pounds.

I don't know if I'm being delusional but I see the chances of us selling Pogba this summer as next to 0, losing our best asset with little chance of replacing him (even with the £150m he'd likely cost) with a new manager appointed and an already young squad would be a huge step backwards. Plus Herrera may already be leaving that'd be 2 starting midfielders we had to directly replace, and we already need another midfielder even if those two don't actually leave.

For all their talk, we need a summer every bit as big as Madrid's. That includes top quality signings but also keeping our only bits of genuine quality. I wouldn't be in a hurry to do business with Madrid anyway after the De Gea fiasco, the Morata nonsense and to a lesser extent selling them Ronaldo who ended up becoming their all time greatest player. Madrid can, quite frankly, feck off.
