Ravel Morrison is as good as done for Swedish club Östersunds FK (who won against Arsenal in last years EL).

Why oh why do I get excited for the summer window. Will be drawn out sagas, hyped up rumours but already I strap myself in as it seems Koulibaly is a target

Dont get Woodys obsession with Varane.
Why won't he just go for de Ligt? It's Varane revisited. I'm not all that enthused with Koulibaly. He's an amazing player, but we're going to need another defender in a few years. I would rather have someone who fits the timeline of our young core.

We need somebody now not another player who might be good in 3/4 years. There will be another De ligt in the future.

There was a rumour it's 200 million. I think the source was The Sun though so in truth nobody knows.
So, nobody know how much Koulibaly would cost and nobody knows our budget. Saying that he would cost half of the budget is somehow unreasonable at this point.

I'd expect our budget in the summer to be quite high.
I really think we didn't spend our 'budget' last summer due to the targets Mou wanted.

On top of that, I can see Lukaku leaving, wages dropped from the likes of Mata etc

Well yeah, isn't that always the case? Everybody is just going on the information at hand, however unreliable. 200 million budget doesn't seem unreasonable and reports say offers for Koulibaly worth at least 80 million were turned down.

I personally doubt Di Laurentiis is going to turn down 80 mill for a defender.

Agreed. He'd snap your hand off and buy someone in the league for a fraction of the price and pocket the rest.

Budget should be huge in the summer really. We've signed 1 player over 2 transfer windows and got rid of Fellaini already to free up wages. With some outgoings in the summer you'd expect the budget will be there for the manager to splash the cash on 3/4 key positions.

I do get we need a CB but is it worth investing 100m on ? Our defence has improved drastically since Ole. while that might not be an indicator, I also think our defence probably is better than whats being perceived.

Well the £200M is pretty much in line with the outer reaches of our biggest ever outlay, it could be substantially less, and the Napoli president is nuts and Koulibaly just signed a huge contract last September, it's not unreasonable to think he's going to want north of what van Dijk cost.

He is nuts but not stupid. Apart from us, who else is going to pay that amount for a defender?

De Ligt is good right now though. Koulibaly is a little better right now, but De Ligt has the potential to be better than Koulibaly in his current prime. Not only that, but he matches the time line of our young core Martial, Rashford, Pogba, etc... better than Koulibaly. And if De Ligt eventually leaves, United get a great fee from his sale. And if he stays, United have a great CB for a decade.

De Ligt has potential to be better than any CB in the future but there are no guarantees he will become that player we would expect from, to be the leader and world class for decades, he could turn out better or worse who knows. Koulibaly is safer purchase where I'd probably feel more comfortable with him and Lindelof lending the defensive line than having De Ligt lending defensive line at 19.

I'd like our squad to be mixed of the young and senior core, if our squad is all about building a young core for the future, it would take a half billion or so to refresh squad when they're nearly at end of their career.

I feel like our squad already has a good balance with age. Next season De Gea is 29, Pogba 26, Lingard 27, Bailly 25, Lindelof, 25, Shaw 24, etc...

To top it off, players like De Gea, Pogba, Shaw, Rashford, and Martial are all experienced for their ages because they broke through at such young ages. The same is true with De Ligt who although is only 19, already has or will have 100+ appearances at first team level, and 15 caps for his national side.

When I look at Varane, I notice that he's only 25 years old. This despite him playing first team football for like the last 6 seasons. I would hate to pass up on the chance of getting the next Varane.

I don't know what the feck is wrong with our board on this one

Tbh he didn't really make it at Real or Bayern. If Bayern don't want to activate a clause to buy a player at a (seemingly) very favourable price something's up. Might just not be up to it mentally.

I feel like I've seen enough of Rodriguez to last me a life time after the England vs Columbia game in the WC. Camera was on his crying face every 5 minutes.

Plus, he hasn't made it at Madrid or Bayern, we should steer clear.

He supports Bayern
