Check out the comments in the tweet, absolute gold.

Still can't get over how utterly dreadful the redesigned Juventus badge/logo is. They had one of the best in Europe before and ruined it.

40m

Feck off. Signed for 11m and made 5 appearances and now they cant even register him in the league because they have no space for more non EU players, shambles.
It makes no sense. Just pay an extra 25m to get Alderwereld or Maguire.

Anyone who has watched Brahimi egularly?
Could he be a solution to our RW problem? Heard he is promising.

From those clips, that Mina fella kind of reminds me of Jerome Boeteng both physically and in his style, not the quickest to be fair but he’s a fecking unit. Could be good, could be shit. Guess we’ll find out soon enough if he signs.

From what I've seen of him he's a bit average. Why can't we buy top player between 25 and 29, youth prospect but experienced, tall but not too tall, who's good on the ball and will stay after Jose is sacked.

Don't forget he must be within the Caf verified market value too. And not chubby looking.

Any chance we are taking him on loan for a year before getting Toby A next year on the cheap?

Cliff notes as to why they hate him? is it just 'cos he left last year?
He kicked up a fuss and wanted to leave Juve. Was named captain at Milan. Celebrated after scoring against them. Juve fans wanted to keep Caldara. Sure there's more.

Does speed matter when the bus is fully parked?

Just letting people know but this newspaper is not reliable at all. They're a Barca mouthpiece (Like Marca for Real Madrid) and are just trying to get others interested in Mina. United are simply not after Yerry Mina - they need a much higher quality of player and I have full confidence we'll be getting either Maguire or Aldeirwereld in the next week. A deal worth 60m should be enough for either.

Please God, let this be true

I don't understand, are these produced stats fake? Comparing defenders off the ball in different systems isn't easy. But comparing their succesful defensive interventions and creative work on the ball is pretty straight forward.
No one laid down an inference from the given date that Maguire was of the same Calibre. Maybe he isn't, maybe it was a fluke across 38 games. But to just dismiss stats because they differ from your previously formed conclusion is being very shackled.

There are other stats I care about, such as team goals allowed of 60 (5th worst in league) vs 28 for MUFC (2nd). I also don’t think we should spend that kind of money on a CB when it’s obvious our problems are with FB (both sides) and RW.

would be a good stepping stone for him and a big challenge to make it in the prem, not sure how much higher he aims, he wont get more money elsewhere. Also a bit doubt he would be a regular starter over Anderson, Yarmolenko or Antonio, probably to go to a spanish league anyway

The list was reportedly handed in February. Mina was bought in January. There’s bigger chance for me to be on that list than Mina.

I think by now we know we are past the list. Toby was apparently near the bottom and Maguire is only a bit more likely than Mina

Is that why they are getting rid of him?

That and they conceded 5 to a relegation threatened Levante with Mina being a leading cause. Barca fans are torn between Vermaelen and Mina over who is worse and who they want to keep. Yes, the Vermealen that United refused to buy 4 seasons ago because he was too old and injury prone.

Funny Mina reminds me of when I saw smalling and how we were all concerned about him and people were questioning SAF and our scouts. difference being smalling is not as good on the ball and nowhere near able to dribble and pass like him at the same age and still to this day is not. Only thing that remains to be seen is how he would take to the league.

I don't have much of an opinion on Mina because the world cup is the only time I've ever seen him play. I have seen the highlights of that 5-4 game though and the whole team looked defensively shambolic so it seems to me that Mina might be being made the scapegoat.

Vidal very near Barsa. They have an agreement with the player at the expense of what happens with Rabiot

Let Pogba alone Barcelona, he's about to do his best season with United this year LOL.

I haven't seen a lot of him but a few clips on youtube would suggest no, looks like a slower version of Chris Smalling to me, could be totally wrong though.

Smalling but slow was exactly how a Barcelona supporting friend described him to me this morning.

Nope, its certainly not one of his strengths, from what I've seen, and most reports about him.

Then why bother? We already have a Smalling, and he's faster.

I really hope this is a smokescreen to flush out Alderweireld or Maguire (preferably the former). Mina wouldn't be an upgrade over what we already have, and for Jose to moan over a non-addition is madness (unless he goes 3 at the back).

Team goals conceded say very little about the players involvement in those goals. Doesn't no. of defensive errors leading to a goal give a better idea how many the player was directly responsible for? To consider goals conceded by a team in evaluating individual defenders would mean not only due you get False Negatives (All the good defenders playing with poor teammates and in poor systems. So basically anyone from out side the top defenses can't be compared to players in them. Take Van Dijk and Andy Robertson as recent examples.) you also get False Positives (All the players who's weaknesses and obvious flaws get swept under the carpet because they play either with top players or a really defensive system. Look at Michael Keane's recent struggles at Everton)

If you think United's defense is complete and perfect even at CB then that's a different debate. The stats show Harry Maguire completes more than twice the dribbles any other ball playing defender does. He also created the most chances with his passing even though he plays in a team that's designed to spend a lot of time off the ball. Put him in a system that allows him more time and better autonomy to circulate the ball and gives him more defensive cover and you'll find even better performances.

That Leicester City have shot back the 65m bid shouldn't come as a surprise given how they've basically now built an entirely new defense around him. He would definitely be one of the better choices at 25 if we are going to persist with the 3-5-2 we have played so far in the pre season given we have very limited CBs on the ball.
