Only way you could sign Kroos is you pay the buyout clause OR offer Pogba AND money

Yeah … Spurs transfer dealings have been terrible for years. How on earth have we managed to assemble one of the world's most valuable squads from the Prem's lowest net spend?

It's a mystery wrapped up in an enigma.

The Spurs a few years ago would be happy to qualify for EL while nothing less than a CL would suffice today. When expectations are low, you are afforded the luxury of buying untested talents from the smaller foreign leagues or plunder young talents from the lower leagues. Obviously it paid off handsomely for you as Spurs bought smart and were attractive to young players keen to establish themselves and use Spurs as a stepping stone.
However, i remember having a debate eith you prior to the 17/18 season, that Spurs window of success is very small and the lack of budget to buy the top tier players would result in the departure of big names. Obviously you disagreed and remain steadfast on a prudent transfer policy of buying untested. 1 season on, Walker left, Rose and Alderweireld are disgrunted and i don't see how Spurs will compete with the likes of City, Liverpool and Man Utd for the title.

Its not even doing business, its their tactics of stringing along other clubs.
Instead of saying not for sale they say Dier will cost 90m and make believe that there's a line of negotiation that wastes everybody's time.
Just so Levy can call himself a tough negotiator and the Spurs fans lap it up.

Yeah there's that as well, Levy has did good for Spurs in general but their way of doing business seems to be hitting a dead end in recent years. Without Kane they would be nowhere near the Top 4.

The Sun quoting Record saying we're in for William Carvalho on a free. Can't find it on Record's website though (although I must admit I don't speak Portugese). Would make sense having Matic/William + Fred/Herrera + Pogba/Fellaini. Just not a lot of creativity in that midfield.
Two years ago, I would've loved this signing. Watching him now, not so sure. Slow like Matic but not so searching in his passes, although that's as much as Portugal's setup as anything else I guess. Would be interesting as a free, but even Wolves are ''negotiating" a fee for Ruining Patricio, so that mess could be more hassle than it's worth.

Wolves are only negotiating a fee with Sporting as a gesture of goodwill when in reality they don’t need too. We could just sign him for nothing as he’s a free agent and if we wanted to discuss a fee then I doubt it would be a “hassle” as we would hold all the cards. It’s us that are paying them a fee when we don’t really have too. If Sporting started acting like cnuts, we could just walk away without giving them a single penny.

Corriere dello Sport have a follow-up story in their Thursday edition, confirming that Mourinho is a big fan of Bonucci with talk of a €40m valuation for the veteran centre-back.

1 season on and (for example) ….

* Walker gone, replaced in the starting XI by Trippier - currently one of the stand-out players for England at the World Cup. Hardly a big problem for Spurs.

* Davinson Sanchez has arrived, currently bedding in pretty well as a starter for Spurs. And that's even if Toby goes this summer - which so far he hasn't.

* Rose: less disgruntled than he was and still with Spurs. A toss-up between him and Davies as to who will be the main starter for Spurs next season.

* Kane and Eriksen have hit new heights.

All in all, I'd suggest waiting to see what happens during this transfer window before declaring that you "don't see how Spurs will compete with the likes of City, Liverpool and Man Utd for the title."

I feel like I'm getting old, remember both Ronnie and Rooney signing!

It's amazing to see their respective levels currently, was convinced Rooney would be better than Ronnie, just goes to show you how much commitment you need to fulfill your potential.

Both are 33. Crazy when you think about it.

Yeah, you could see every pre season, picture of Rooney smoking and drinking, while Ronaldo stayed away from drink and religiously took care of his body, that certainly has paid dividends now, be interesting to see if Ronaldo plays on into his late 30's, even at half his current level he'd still be pretty darn good.
