My opinion: Not strong enough in the air to help out the like of Bailly, Lindelof if we're prioritizing them as our future CBs. Ball playing is not that good. Tidy and can play great ball occasionally, but not exactly top class when compare to so called ball playing Cb at their best, so wouldn't improve our ability from the back greatly along side Smalling. Mostly played as right sided CB which most of our CBs do. Not exactly experienced in the mold of leader in high demanding team. During his his success with Ajax, Vertongen was rated higher; and it hasn't exactly transited to higher level at Atletico when even their best year (winning La Liga & make CL final), Toby ain't a main stay in the starting XI, and not so much as CB.

So all in all, 'profile' term can be used here

I'm not sure who is available that fits the profile of an experienced, left-sided, aerially-dominant, ball-playing CB? Vertonghen, probably? I dread to think how much Levy would ask for!

Who else? Hummels. Again, the fee would be stratospheric (and likely impossible).

Škriniar should be the target IMO. Outstanding player. Inter will be cnuts to negotiate with though, as we found out last season. They seem to sell to anyone else for peanuts.

Somebody mentioned Boateng and rumor of him being available. Then Bonnuci is not settled... Point is it's still early to be dead on one target, especially for the rumored asking price.

I don't mean we're looking at elite all round great. I meant more about if we're to spend big, we need someone possess some attributes at outright among the very best level, not another all around almost CB

Couldn't agree more, we should throw the Aldeweireld money towards Inter and see what they say. Skriniar would be a very exciting signing and I wouldn't normally say that about a CB...

He doesn’t want to leave Inter this summer.

Feckfeckfeck. Hopefully his agent demands the moon, and Woody hijacks the deal.
If not, then Arsenal actually got a decent CDM for a change.

I'm not convinced about that guy. I hope we still have Barella on our radars.

If Gelson Martins is able to terminate his contract with Lisbon then Mourinho should be all over that. A 23 year old free transfer who is miles better than Lingard and Mata on the right wing. Absolute no brainer.

Clickbaity nonsense.

I'll quit the Caf for ever again if we don't sign an experienced left back this window.
For ever again? So it wasn't forever last time

Great news of getting Henderson to sign a new deal, very good keeper. Next up de Gea to sign hopefully, there's been no talk whatsoever about that for a while though.

Would love Barella but he does play the same role as Fred and Herrera, so I doubt we will be after him.
We could really use a young CDM though, if Fellaini leaves

I've a feeling we'll lose Herrera either this summer or when his contract runs out. He was linked with a move back to Bilbao not long back and I think he'll go for it.

Inter would ask for more than VVD money for him, i can tell you that.

Player's about to sign a new contract, he's very happy there and the agent said inter is the perfect place for him right now and the new contract offer was really good

We should then just buy Inter..

Martins would be a really good signing for us I think. He has pace, can beat a man and is right footed. Seems he is also able to score, so he doesn't look like a one-trick pony.

I'm just wondering if we're done signing anyone until the World Cup is over, cause the rumors around us have gone down except from the obvious links to the bigger targets such as Bale and Alderweireld.

AS sources have been told that an immediate move away from Los Blancos is the most likely scenario, particularly if he is to remain a bit-part player.
....before making a final decision the he is keen to see who is brought into the club .... While this situation awaits its conclusion, Juventus remain on alert and have already contacted the player, but not the club.[/QUOTE]

€50m release clause for Mateo Kovacic..

Could be an absolute steal at that price.

People were saying the same about the key holder

Ahh, how could we forget about The Keeper of the Key? His Brother's Keeper.

I reckon things could've turned out better for him had Wenger trusted him more - if he'd been given the key to the Emirates, who knows?

Inter are so tight, won't be surprised if they proposed a payment structure of £1m per year...
Most likely a loan with "option" to buy to work around FFP. That's really their problem right now
