Okay it's the first week of the offseason for us, yes it we sign Perisic as our "main guy" in the offseason it would be awful, but just because he's the first signing it wouldn't mean he's the pinnacle of the summer.

Seriously stop overreacting lol

The thing is, it's not even that Perisic is that bad. If we'd signed him last summer I doubt anyone would be upset, he'd be a very solid and useful player.

The issue is right now the league is insanely competitive and it's only going to get much harder as City blow everyone away in the market and Chelsea and Spurs continue to build. We can't accept anything other than 3/4 genuinely world class signings. Otherwise we won't just not catch up well actually regress. Look at Arsenal last summer, they spent £100m and dropped 3 places. Everyone was hyping Lucas Perez, Xhaka and Mustafi but it wasn't nearly enough. There's nothing that suggests to me that Perisic is above the level of those guys.

This is why everyone is getting outraged, especially as City have just bought one of the hottest and most talented players in the world right now for a similar price to apparently what Perisic will cost.

That said, if we do get the 3/4 world class players and Perisic ontop of that I will more than welcome his arrival, but it's not looking promising as of right now

Perisic is the surprise

On a more serious note - if we sign fecking Perisic after City signed Bernardo Silva, I'd be livid.

Can't see him being any upgrade over current wing options. And even as a back up, I feel he won't offer much more than Young.

Maybe, just maybe, Mou hasn't given up on Mhki and Martial. Maybe he just wants players to deal with the cups we will be in.

Let's generalise from an anomaly. Excellent
you're obviously not getting the point are you. If everyone expects us to just go out and sign the no. 1 world class player in the positions we are looking to strengthen then they've been smoking something they shouldn't have.

My point was that Perisic is a better player than a lot of those Leicester players, hence adding him to our squad to replace say Young, and then also add Griezmann and another couple of very very good players, then he'd be a good addition to the squad.

Plus I think perisic played as left back for borussia, he would be a very versatile option for our left wing.

I predicted Griezmann, Perisic, Lindeloff and Fabinho to be our transfers this season...not really sure how i feel about a Perisic move getting steam

How is exactly waiting for players to be snatched up and looking at what's left a good strategy? It seems we're interested in Mendy but will be missing out because we didn't pursue him as quickly as City did, for example.

Why can't we compete? Just settling for leftovers is ridiculous, we have the money, CL the same as them and actually won trophies this season.

What is this nonsense? How do you know we were ever even after Silva and Mendy? Because the media said so? Just relax and trust in what Jose is doing.. he has a superb record in the transfer window and has already proved that with us, I truth him to get the right players in.

I'm not saying we were necessarily after Silva or Mendy but the fact that City were / are after them may be enough to put us off and onto alternative targets. Unlike ourselves, City have effectively unlimited funds and it will just push the price up to ridiculous levels if we get into bidding wars with the Sheikh.

Besides, as frustrating as it is, we tend to do our business late in the window.

Wouldn't be too disappointed with that. A goal scorer, a fine midfielder, a centre back with promise and Perisic. Wouldn't really want Perisic, but he'd be good as a rotation option.

WUM alert

Sorry, not meaning to wum just being realistic - whilst we are very wealthy we still can't compete financially with a club that has unlimited funds. Not a good idea to get in a bidding war with that lot.

Probably just had his best season so far Peresic. And for those saying he's worse than Young, you need to have a word with yourself. He'd be a good squad option and hopefully shows Mou has faith in Martial to step up next season.

You don't really pay £40M for a squad signing. He'd be going into the starting lineup.

People keep saying he's bang average but I would be surprised if anyone has seen more than 2/3 games of him this season.

I've only seen him play in the Euros and World Cup and he has looked like a good player. Two footed, pace and plays wide which we desperately need. My only worry is his age and the price because Sanchez for example will probably go for £50m. Would rather put the money toward him.

I tried to predict what Mourinho would want instead of what i want (since that is pretty irrelevant bcos im a fan).

He wanted a player that is Lingard+end product, a replacement for Wayne Rooney, a replacement for Micheal Carrick, and i chose Lindeloff because that was getting steam in the January transfer window. If i would add anything to that i would add a striker because of Ibra's Injury.

I'm expecting the price to come down to be honest. Bernado Silva was reported as 70m to begin with. Bring Peresic down to around 25-30m and I think that will be closer.

We have enough squad options we need players who come in and improve our first 11.

I believe in Martial stepping up to improve our LW options personally. Also I'm guessing Mourinho expects Mhki to perform better this season seen as how he bought them last year.

Sorry, have to disagree, why can't we compete with City? And how do you know that we were interested in the players they are signing?

We can compete but, although we are very well off financially, we still have to balance the books, we still have a budget - City really don't, Mansour and his associated companies can just plough more money in. If we get into a bidding war with them, either the price and wages gets pushed up beyond what the player is worth and we get them or they end up getting the player.

I don't know whether we were after these players or not, although we were being heavily linked with Silva. As soon as City's interest became apparent that interest went very quiet and soon after he was signing for City. Maybe we wanted to avoid a bidding war. There are other players and it's not as if Silva is out of this world.

That would be disastrous. He has to simultaneous not give up on them and still find potential first teamers who can improve the team.

A lot of the time we get linked to players City want and vice versa. It means nothing.

There's absolutely no evidence for any of your points.

Is it against the laws to contact the player or the agent?
I mean ... send scouts from the beginning of the season, get reports, watch enormous amounts of recorded football games, prepare your reports on time (I suppose by March) and then whoever deals with the transfer contacts the club, they do all the negotiating and then the player goes "Well, I prefer to play for Pep."
Having a report of players who are your target, shouldn't you be at least 85% sure that these players are eager to play firstly for that club, secondly for you and thirdly to take part in that project.
I just can't believe we would go on a bidding war or we would gamble on players who haven't made their mind up.

Which I am sure we would if he wanted to stay, think Mourinho would want him here.

Or maybe Raiola is trying to create interest in case we sign a new striker. I don't think Zlatan would like the idea of not being the main striker.
