Lenglet has impressed me more than Umtiti the few times I have seen him play...we should go for him
Could there still be any legs to this rumour....?
A few months ago, I would have said dead & buried, but I'm not so sure now with Sanchez joining in January.
Stranger things have happened, and if Martial & Mata are on their way out, Griezmann might just be a logical option again.
Would be all for this. English, decent passer, plays LCB, not too young but not too old either at 25.
Not every foreign player thinks like Di Maria ffs
Didn't say that, but his form has coincidentally tailed off as soon as he was told he was getting the contract he wanted, doesn't exactly scream "great attitude".Not every foreign player thinks like Di Maria ffs
Steve Bates: United are lining up a summer move for £35million-rated Leicester star Harry Maguire.
Can be a bit accident prone too, something which is already a bit concerning with a current crop. His pace would be a worry, we player higher up the pitch than Leicester, he'd get caught out a fair few times. Good player mind you, just not convinced he'd fit in at United.
I don't see the logic in going for a centre back unless he's undoubtedly the real deal.
Agree, I doubt he is a no1 target, probably a backup option similar to Keane last season
Doubt it's true, but if 50m is enough to get him, we should be interested.
How many times have you seen both? Because Umtiti has been fantastic this season, on the whole.Lenglet has impressed me more than Umtiti the few times I have seen him play...we should go for him
If there is anything at all in the Mbappe FFP speculation (which is of course super remote) then we should move heaven and earth for that kind of move.
But when we have 5 centre backs, why would we need a backup transfer option? Surely it's plan A or go with what we've got. Don't you think?
Because they had legitimate interest last year and Pep made a few personal pleas to him, iirc. Spoke to him and his family.I was thinking that if there were such issues, why the feck would City of all clubs be in a better position to take advantage of it?

Maguire is probably the equivalent this year to Keane last year (backup target). Alderweireld/another CB is probably higher on our list. Maybe same with Tierney and Sandro.Probably all bollocks so im taking it with a pinch of salt but we're linked with Tierney and Maguire whilst City are linked with Mbappe, De Ligt and Thiago
Crackin play! We got this.

Harry Maguire reminds me of another Phil Jones tbh. It's not a bad thing but I don't know if it's exactly what we need at the back. An assured, positionally sound defender comfortable with playing out from the back is the type wed be after. Quite rare to find one like this, mind.
Mourinho probably targeted Lindelof to be that guy but maybe realised through training that his progress in adapting is slower than anticipated?
I don't understand your logic. City laid groundwork last year, so naturally they'd have an advantage if he was available.Yea, so did PSG I believe. If PSG cannot sign him due to being a plastic club with oil money, then why would that present an opportunity for Manchester City of all clubs?!

He's great at playing out from the back though?
A bit worrying that we haven’t really been linked with De Ligt.Probably all bollocks so im taking it with a pinch of salt but we're linked with Tierney and Maguire whilst City are linked with Mbappe, De Ligt and Thiago

If City were linked with Umtiti and us with De Ligt, many would be saying we need ready made proven defenders.A bit worrying that we haven’t really been linked with De Ligt.

Very true. Just hope whoever we go for is a significant improvement on what we have. We are well stocked at CB in terms of numbers but for all the Centre halves we have only Bailly is United quality IMO.If City were linked with Umtiti and us with De Ligt, many would be saying we need ready made proven defenders.
Can't win.

If you're trying to say it's because City may face similar FFP sanctions as PSG, I'm very doubtful PSG will face any meaningful sanctions anyway, so not an issue.
But PSG have got one £200m+ player. Having 2 is what's costing then. So City can have one of their own too, just not a second one. This is exactly what I’m trying to say. If PSG cannot use their Gulf money to buy Mbappé the logical alternative won’t be a team funded in the same way.
I agree that there is likely to be an issue anyway, I just struggle to see how City would benefit from a team unable to spend £170m on a player due to FFP - they are one and the same with PSG.
He's not slow you know.
"Juventus have been working on signing Can for almost a year now since his contract expires this summer, securing him from the beginning to be able to get him for free. It's possible that they'll do the same with Martial, whose contract expires in 2019.
However, even though Juventus are very interested in the winger, many clubs have expressed their interest in Martial, leaving him to choose his next destination. Among others, Bayern Munich are keeping an extra eye on Martial, and it's almost impossible that Juventus will get him for free."
