Incredibly unlikely anyone they would want would be available.

Does make you wonder how confident they are about an appeal though.
I think so too. No club would let a new 'it player' of Perez' liking go now. I reckon he feels confident that the appeal procedure would carry into fall and the ban would start in winter and expect him to shop until he drops after the Euro 2016.

RuhrNachrichten and Kicker magazine (Thomas Hennecke) both report that Dortmund's deal with 19 year old midfielder Mikel Merino from Osasuno is as good as done.

Anyone on the Caf who could comment on him? Other than that he played the Euro U19 final which Spain won, I don't know anything about him

£12m for Andros 'run into a blind alley and throw a strop but he scored a good goal once for England' fecking Townsend?

He's not worth 12p.

Is it true we've not seriously been linked with anyone?

We'll find out in a few days if it was pur stealth, but if we retain LVG but don't provide some much needed incoming full backs and strikers, I'm very confused at our current strategy.

IIRC LvG said in a presser in early or mid January that United wouldn't sign somebody. Has he changed his position in the light of more or longer than expected injuries?

I'm not surprised we're not signing anyone, it's hard to get those top players the manager thinks he needs and teams don't sell anyone that's doing well.

I'm glad we're waiting until the summer, no point in getting someone in who might not be good enough longterm.

He said we are looking but nobody would sell in Jan. Buying stop gap is useless since they would either be championship players or lower. Its better to play CBJ and other academy players rather than buying players just for the sake of buying. No way, any key member of a PL team is moving this window. Even promoted teams like Watford, Bournemouth and all are buying reasonable players, its hard to expect them to sell anyone.

@prath92
Thanks. I also think it's sensible to refrain from buying just anybody for the sake of signing if the quality players needed are not for sale in January. I just can't get my head around why LvG didn't learn from last season and went into the current campaign with such a small squad (in terms of quality that is).

That is the thing, yes it is the fact he didn't build the sqaud up in numbers, instead he decimated it. It's nice for the kids to get a chance, but those same kids might end up being the reason we finish well down the table then cannot get the class of player fans want in the summer. He is giving kids a chance, not because they are really good, but because he messed up in the summer. He new what we needed and didn't address it. If Phil Jones has lots of injuries last season, there is a good chance same Phil Jones will be the same this season. The LB situation I can forgive him for, the RB one no I can't. Same with the striker. Moaning about not having pace on the right wing, so buy a right winger, sorted.

If I were one of them I would make a deal with the other to play one-two's in a match, just to annoy the commentators

"Moussa Dembele, plays it forward to Moussa Dembele who gives it back to Moussa Dembele..."
